The Veranda - Lake Lure

The restaurant could use some tender loving care, but you can't beat the location. The pool is amazing. Hopefully, the new owners will give it a refresh while still maintaining its charm.

One thing is to be an antiquated, historic venue, but another is to be a dirty, unsanitary venue. I have stayed at this location three times and each time I have dreaded going back, only doing so because we enjoy Lake Lure and have struggled to find alternative accommodations. However, my last experience was so unpleasant that I informed my husband I refuse to return. The curtains were covered in mold, the rugs were extremely dirty, and all I wanted was to leave the moment I stepped inside. I also dined at their restaurant a while ago, and the food was terrible - all I can recall is a dish of duck with cranberries.
