Meh is the best word to describe this dining experience. Positive: seated quickly friendly server Not as great: my burger/swiss steak was ordered medium and came out like a hockey puck the side of green beans showed up as broccoli fries were unevenly cooked temperature wise family member who ordered the latkes barely ate them as oddly overdone and dry limited menu if you have dietary restrictions (burger/swiss steak or salad about my only option without having to swap out everything this place puts cheese on everything) If you are looking for basic, boring deli you found it!
The food and service was completely unacceptable. I should have walked out the door when my plate of food was out down on the table. I ordered their special, the Toojay Benedict! The eggs were undercooked, runny to the point of raw, the English muffin was not toasted, tastes like dough.and the food was swimming, No, drowning in a pool of Hollandaise sauce that was barely room temperature. I was physically I'll when I returned home.... Will spare you those details! The wait staff judged and criticized the patrons the whole time. Was there.... Except for one person, Scott, who I was wish was my waiter. He had a smile on his face and continued working cheerfully despite the horrid managerial skills of the establishment! I pray for Scott and hope he's not there long!
I count myself among the TooJay's fans. The Florida based, New York-style delicatessen chain was founded in 1981 by friends and business partners Mark Jay Katzenberg and Jay Brown, the two Jays in the restaurants name. The first location opened in Palm Beach's Royal Poinciana Plaza and today there are over 20 TooJay's in Florida. They are known for their deli sandwiches, soups, salads, and bakery. This TooJay;s is located in the Oakwood Shopping Center in Boynton Beach. It is beginning to feel a lot like Thanksgiving and I was craving their Turkey Cranberry Griller, a sandwich with all of the flavors of Thanksgiving. Grilled whole wheat bread is topped with Swiss cheese, sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, fresh herbs, arugula, cornbread stuffing, and turkey gravy. It is served with mashed potatoes and gravy. It is the ultimate of comfort foods. By signing up to receive their texts I received a $5 off $20 coupon code. I used my savings to get a piece of their excellent coconut cake to go. You can also join their e club for more promotions and special offers. The service at this location was great as was my meal. I left very satisfied.
TooJays has my heart after visiting for breakfast the other weekend. I didn't realize they had relocated , so when I noticed this location I knew I had to try it. Came here on a Sunday morning and was surprised that is wasn't too busy. My waiter was super friendly, got me seated right away and brought us coffee. My food was unbelievable. The waffle was thick and fluffy. I of course had to get the warm fruit topping, which I'm pretty sure is a cheesecake topping, and it is by far the greatest combo I've ever had with a Belgian waffle. My dad ordered the French toast and it was made on brioche bread, making it fluffy and light. They are also a deli, so they have huge cases of bakery treats and other deli goodies. I skipped past the deli stuff because of the scrumptious looking cakes of course, but everything I saw looked very fresh and well worth trying. It seems like TooJay's has so much to offer !!!! We were both stuffed after breakfast and happy as could be!!!! I can't wait to come back for lunch or dinner.
