Mega Mercado - Lakeland

I'm originally from Southern California, and I often find that Mexican food in Florida can be hit or miss. However, Mega Mercado truly takes me back home. The food is both affordable and delicious. When you arrive, you're greeted with freshly made tortilla chips and salsa right at your table. They also offer a variety of aguas frescas drinks to choose from. I typically order the carne asada tacos, but I've also tried the tortas, sopes, chimichangas, tostadas, campechana, birria tacos, flautas, and menudo, and I've never been disappointed. I've read some complaints about the service, but I've never experienced any issues myself. If you arrive during peak hours, it's understandable to expect a wait, but it’s definitely worth it.

Excellent! The food was amazing—definitely some of the best I've had in a while. The guacamole and salsa were a bit challenging to eat, but still delicious. The service was outstanding as well!

Mega Mercado is one of my favorite restaurants in Lakeland. The food is consistently excellent, and the portion sizes are quite generous. Their chips are simply the best. If I could offer some advice, it would be to avoid arriving too hungry, as you might become a bit hangry before your meal arrives. It’s a bustling place, and while it's quite hectic, it’s organized chaos. I’ve come to expect this, so it doesn’t bother me. The end result is worth it, so I highly recommend giving Mega Mercado a try!

I have two tips for you; one: get an order of 4 5 Mexican style Barbacoa Tacos you will absolutely desire that you can only cost ONE more, and two: if you don't speak Spanish, patience and courtesy will go a long way. This restaurant is operated by hardworking predominantly Spanish speaking families. They will give you some of the best food you ever eat on American soil and offer you a small dose of authentic Mexican culture. P.S. Literally the best Mexican place in the world. Best tacos ever and best pastries ever. I just wished I knew how to speak Spanish so I could fit in more but I love the feel of the place
