What a lovely seaside town.As we stayed at Bellevue on the Lakes, it seemed natural to have dinner at the Rudder & Fin, on the same premises, but not run by the hotel.I was really looking forward to a great piece of fish for dinner - ba ba - no seafood available. I had to resort to pumpkin risotto. While it was very nice, it was really disappointing not to have any fish available at all.
This restaurant is alongside the Bellevue motel in Lakes Entrance. I ordered the fish from the board that night while it was a sizeable peice of fish it wasn't cooked properly. The service was good but they weren't busy on the night. My husband had steak and he said it was good. Quite expensive for what it was.
Tried to book for Friday night, told you were no longer operating, is this correct? Very confused as bookings are being taken to high teas!
What an experience!!!!! We thought we would do the right thing and making a booking although it was late in the afternoon. To our amazement we had to leave a message which was returned almost at the time we were expecting to arrive. On arriving we noticed that we were the only patrons at the restaurant and it was after 6.30pm. After our pre-dinner drinks orders were taken and delivered we then gave our orders for mains etc. As the location of the restaurant is a well know seafood area we asked what the “seafood for the day” was as the large board on the wall with “TODAY’S SPECAIL” was blank, ONLY to be told that there was NO fish at all as the Chef had forgotten to purchase it earlier that day and anyway its only ever “Gummy”. So we chose from the remaining selections on the menu. After a few more patrons arrived and almost an hour had gone, we had our main courses arrive and the staff then decided that our napkins and cutlery were needed to be in place so they reached across patrons to achieve this. As our “sides” had not arrived we requested them only to be told they were not on the original order. They finally arrived at about the same time as we completed our mains so naturally our plates were empty, so the staff decided that is was time for these plates and cutlery to be removed from the table leaving us with nothing to eat from on with. Finally we were able to finish.Expected that nothing else could or would go wrong, we asked for the desert menu only to be told....... “None of the deserts are available but we can do Ice-cream any way you would like”.WHAT AN EXPERIENCE !!!!!! WE are locals in the area so you can imagine what we talk about. ACMCD
Where do I start?Wine list, first 3 choices they didn't have, had to settle for their local house wine.Oysters? Supposed to be their specialty and Tuesday special. But alas no oysters. What?!??Entrees, no cutlery or napkins. What?!??Mains, veg side dish tough (how do you get veggies tough).Salmon had enough pesto on it to destroy taste buds. Salmon howeverwas cooked to perfection and delicious. At the end of the meal found we were double charged for pre dinner drinks.Go somewhere else.
