As soon as I walked through the door I was seated, and was told to immediately move to another table right by the door, to which I replied: I 'm fine where I am seated. Shortly afterwards I was told again, but more aggressively, to move, which I regrettably obliged. As soon as I sat down, the waitress told me to order, which I had no time to look at the menu and was scowled at for wanting to order starters first and have my main afterwards. The food was meh , nothing outstanding, and somewhat tarnished by the racism and discrimination I faced, the racism was subtle but noticeable. I left before having my main and stupidly paid the service charge they inflicted on the bill, not to cause unwanted drama. Guys, let 's not support businesses that don 't deserve our money, which we work **** so hard for. There are better Thai places in London, and it 's time to take a hard stance against establishments that don 't appreciate us as customers.
Discovered this venue last week whilst staying nearby, and looking for breakfast. Excellent value Full English plus toast tea with a bacon sandwich and coffee for £11.00. Dinner menu looks tasty and with a corkage charge of £1.00 per head this place is the radar for our next visit to the big city...and they take cards.
This is my treat every Friday for lunch and has been for the last few years. Looking through the widow from the street it doesn't look like much, but the restaurant is packed on all the days the popup food venders are trading. Its clean the kitchen is open and works like a fine watch. Service is fast and friendly but above all, the food is great.
I have been going to Maries for years. The Thai food is cooked to order, and is hot and filling. You can request more spicy, or milder, as you like. The staff are lovely, and hard working, and the menu has a good selection of Thai favourites, Curries, stir fries etc. They also do English breakfasts, and various other meals. It is cheap and clean, without frills.
Marie’s Cafe is a friendly cafe. Don’t be fooled by appearances. Great Thai food at a great speed and very well priced for London. Have been about 5 times and I haven’t been disappointed and not have our friends who’ve been introduced to it.
