I was greeted and seated by the owners; the interior is pretty small and has only 4 long tables and I sat next to three soldiers (probably here for the military parade for Portugal's day). The owner, an old and nice lady, told me the menu from which I picked Bacalhau á Bras with potatoes. It was very good, though slightly too salty, and definitely plentiful since I was full after that. They asked two times if I wanted something else but I refused saying I was full, but I did talk a while with the old lady asking her how the bacalhau was cooked. The meal which included water, was 7,50€ so a good price.
Visited 7 years ago and returned today to find the place full of locals for lunch. Steep stairs to the upstairs dining area. Order the octopus and the meat that is of the day! Come before 1pm if you want a table
We stumbled on Sebastian’s place late in the evening and he kindly invited us in and served us personally. I think they were almost closing up. Through broken Portugese and English we had the best traditional Portugese meal, chicken and beef, more than enough bread, olives and vegetables.. and to top it of choclate mousse out of this world. If you are in Lamego, and looking for local food this is the place.. our family felt very much at home here!
We had Cabrito assado à D. Emilia . This was very good indeed. In any case, I recommend going for one of the dishes in the day 's menu, this should be faster and tastier. Not so good on desserts.
