It took some time to get served and this we found typical in many Bavarian restaurants. We might have ordered more drinks if they had paid more attention so the opportunity for them to earn more was lost. The food was fine ; glass of wine expensive; beer good value.
We traveled to Landberg am Lech with my mother who had fond memories of this place from 70+ years ago. Choosing to eat at Gasthof Zum Morhren seemed to be the right thing (umbrella covered tables on the square filled with patrons) but were we wrong. The food presentation was nice, but both the beef goulash dish and pork dishes were very salty and not worth the money we spent on it. The pork slices had about a 3:1 ration of meat to fat, and the meat itself was tough, both to cut and eat. In the future, I will stay away from this "tourist trap" and take the time to search out an out of the way eatery where the locals go.
As our hotel was "garni," we decided to make our way into the town centre for some traditional Bavarian grub. We chose the popular Gasthof zum Mohren and liked it so much that we ate there two nights running. On the first night (a wet Monday) the place was full and the portions served were more than ample, with a pile of chips which several diners found it difficult to finish! We opted for traditional Wiener Schnitzel and medaillons of pork with Spaetzle and we swapped dishes on the second night. The food was of good quality (including the accompanying salad) and certainly plentiful. This was true, too, of the desserts of Apple Strudel on the first night and Topfen (or Quark) Strudel on the second with lashings of cream and ice cream.Complemented by the local beer, here were two meals to remember!
Went here for an evening meal and wasn't disappointed with the food. Very attentative waiter served us a lovely alsace wine and goulash with dumplings. My father had the pork knuckle and the crackling was to die for. Would dine here again.
We wanted to sit outside on the terras, but there were no free seats because part of the tables were kind of blocked with chains. I went inside to ask the waiter if he could remove some of the chains. He growled at me that they were busy and they didn't have time for that. OK, if you don't want to earn some money, I'll spend it somewhere else.
