Sam's Southern Eatery - Laplace

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The fried fish, shrimp, and crab cakes are all outstanding. I would give the fried green tomatoes a perfect score of 5! The portions are very generous. However, the dining area is not very comfortable; it consists of just a few tables in a bar-style setting with a counter seating area.

I stopped by for a quick bite and was incredibly impressed with the waitress! She was outstanding—so friendly and attentive, managing several tables without making us feel neglected at all. We ordered the fish, shrimp, fried okra, mozzarella sticks, and fries. The mozzarella sticks were dangerously delicious; I could have eaten just those! The fish was Swai, which I didn’t realize at first, but it was well-seasoned even if I wasn’t particularly impressed. The fries were also very tasty. My husband didn’t have much to say about the shrimp and okra, so I’m guessing they were decent. It was a bit greasy overall, but the portions were generous, the prices were great, and the service was excellent! The menu had a wide variety of options, so definitely check it out!

I've never had a bad experience with my orders here. The breading on the catfish is both crispy and delicious. It's some of the best catfish I've tasted in LaPlace. To illustrate how well they prepare their food, let me share an example. Today, when I picked up my order, the owner, Abraham, approached me and expressed concern about how long my shrimp had been sitting outside. He promptly cooked up a fresh batch for me and even added a few extra shrimp. And let me tell you, their shrimp are fantastic! The okra and fried pickles are amazing too. The crab cakes are excellent and could easily be a meal on their own. I wholeheartedly recommend Sam's Southern Eatery. Great food and great people!

Food is fantastic here. The waitress and I had a great conversation about our kids while I waited and another guy even helped me get my food in the car! I highly recommend this place and I will return.

Labor Day and most places are closed and that made us LUCKY! We came across Sam's Southern Eatery and what a WIN. Fried shrimp, fries, red beans and rice on one plate and the other was fried oysters, grilled fish covered with delicious smoothed onions and green peppers! The gentleman serving us was excellent and took care of everything promptly. Life is good with southern seafood goodness in your belly I highly recommend Sam's Southern Eatery. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
