I was in L 'Argentiere for a few nights and decided to taste some of the local restaurants. The kiosk is centrally located sur place . The service is attentive and very friendly, I had the burger Chamonix with Angus beef, local cheese, Salat Frites. It was quite a big challenge, but delicious with a local turn. I might come back.
The ice umbrellas of the streets do not do justice to this restaurant! The food was great with a variety that all suitable in our group. Reliable with friendly service and great Gelato to complete.
To celebrate the end of our holidays, we had decided to go and treat ourselves with a nice big ice cream one evening. We sat outside on the terrace at one of the tables sheltered from the wind by only to be greeted by a 'you cannot seat here, that 's for customer having dinner ' When we objected that there were still many sheltered tables free and no queue in sight they nevertheless insisted to shift us into less comfy, wind exposed, reclined chair. No wanting to disappoint the kids, I caved in, but this second-class customer was most unwelcoming. The ice cream were good, but: a) I understand that whipped cream is a practical easy way to make the bowl look enormous, but please put more ice cream and less whipped cream. At 12€ each I expect more than 3 scoops sunk in 2 cans of whipped cream b) we ask to ask several time for a jug of water to be brought c) I then had the disappointing surprise to find out that the ice cream served actually came from plastic tubs. Do not call yourself a 'glacier ' if you do not make your ice-cream yourself! d) we finally had to insist to pay (proving their lack of attention despite restaurant far from busy) and can only do it in cash! Overall good ice-cream (nothing to die-for though), overpriced and disappointing service. PS: This disappointing service was the second issue in the same week. A few days before, we came inside for a dinner, waited a while to be seated, so eventually sat at a table, were ignored (see points b) and d) above about their lack of supervision), finally left after 15 minutes We wanted to finish the holiday in beauty and offer good big family ice cream. After sitting on the terrace at one of the tables sheltered from the wind, what was not my surprise to hear me say that these tables were for people wanting a meal, and if we wanted 'that' ice we had to sit in a corner exposed to the wind and the seat much less comfortable. Although he pointed out that there were still many free tables (more than 7) and that the crowd was far from falling apart, the restaurateur insisted that we were second-rate clients. I didn't want to hurt the children, I was inclined. After this welcome far from being warm, I continued to be cooled, not by the ice but by the fact that: a) I understand that the cream Chantilly is easy and cheaper to make the cup appear as giant, but more than 12€ the ice I would have wanted more than 3 balls. (b) it was necessary to insist on several times to obtain a pichet of water (c) In fact, the ice came from plastic bins purchased from the outside. Please don't pretend to be 'Glacier' if you don't do it yourself! d) then insist on paying, and you can only do it in cash! In summary of good ice (but no more), too expensive with bad service. PS: We had already had a bad experience earlier in the week: after entering and waiting for several minutes that we were placed, we finally decided to sit down. After 1 4 d'h without any attention we finally decided to go mag elsewhere.
