Been going to Chilitos for years and it's been pretty good, last night was a huge disappointment. Chips were stale and hard, salsa was good though, got a replacement batch which were a little better and finished them before our drink order was even taken. Drink order took 15 minutes after that. Food took longer than normal even though there were more empty tables than occupied ones. Food was pretty good as usual and tried their sopapillas which were really good. Maybe last night was an off-night but we won't be back for awhile. Server seemed to disappear for long periods of time, we had to ask another server to track her down to get our bill.
I only wish the fry?s were cooked softer and the collie was a little bit hotter. The flavor was on point and the steak was cooked perfectly. The service was great and friendly
Was expecting good authentic Mexican food while visiting in Las Cruces. It was the worst. 3 Tortillas were tiny and if you need more (and you will) there is an up charge. Chicken and beef were brought out very burnt and I couldn't get it off the sizzling platter as I was not given a plate which added to my frustration. Side order of guacamole was good but is not served with chips and there is a charge for chips if you want them. Service was very slow and we waited a long time for our check after our waitress removed the empty dishes. Just a bad experience and we will not go back.
Another must hit when we visit. The flavors are wonderful and we left stuffed! We grazed in their chips and salsa and ordered some guacamole. Their salsa has the best flavor--it's absolutely addicting. And the guac was smooth and delicious with some lettuce chunks and fresh white onion strings if you wanted a little texture. My son and I get their sopapilla compuesta (Christmas). That meal is huge! And the meat just melts in your mouth. My wife goes for their green enchiladas (stacked). She had to also get sour cream because their green was a little hot for her. Still tasty and she still loves it. My in-laws go for their red enchiladas (stacked) with an egg on top. They like them here the best in the valley. And, of course, you have to finish the meal with an order of sopapillas (cinnamon sugar or plain). Absolutely delicious!
