While most places deep-fry it—resulting in a texture reminiscent of a rubber ball—Jo Baby sautéed it with vegetables, rice, and spices, which makes all the difference. The jumbo shrimp, po'boys, as well as the chicken and sausage jambalaya are all outstanding too.
The food was excellent! I had crabs, which were served alongside fried catfish in a bowl of rice. The flavors were delightful, with just a hint of spice—not overwhelming at all. We will definitely return to try more Cajun dishes, like the pebbles, blue crabs, fried shrimp, and fried wings. I was also impressed by the variety of hot sauces available to add an extra kick!
I’m 26 now, and my mother was pregnant with me when she first visited this restaurant. I can confidently say that this place is fantastic. Jo, the new owner, along with the staff and bartender, is wonderful. The food is delicious, but be prepared for occasional wait times. Be patient and savor the experience at this hidden gem!
Exciting news: Chef Junior is still doing an amazing job! The gumbo is hearty, while the jambalaya and étouffée are exceptional. The portion sizes are generous and reasonably priced. They also serve ribs and have a wide variety of other menu options, including an endless selection of delicious dishes. This place is incredible and deserves to be packed every night, but for some reason, it isn't. The food and staff are top-notch; you'll love it!
I can confidently say that this is the best Cajun restaurant in town! I've tried crawfish at several places, but none compare to this! I'm a regular during crawfish season, and honestly, all of their food is excellent! I know this because I always encourage my friends to order different dishes so I can try some of theirs too, haha!
