They quickly recognized one of our dinner guests and assisted the rest of us in navigating the menu. The ordering process is centered around a communal dining experience, where everyone places their order but all the main dishes come on one or more plates with a variety of sides. Injera bread, which serves as both rolls and the base for the food, is used as utensils. You simply grab a piece of it and scoop up the sides and mains. The food is all delicious and unique, making for a wonderful dining experience. Although the wait can be a little long due to limited staff, the overall experience is worth it.
I dined at Gojo for dinner during a weekend trip to Richmond and was very impressed with the food and service. The restaurant offers a variety of vegan options and I highly recommend trying the combination platter if you are new to Ethiopian cuisine. You won't be disappointed!
The food was amazing and the staff was great. We had the pleasure of meeting the chef/owner and her husband. We relocated from DC two years ago and this is the best Ethiopian food we have had since U Street! We will definitely be returning soon.
Service: 10/10 Very nice lady and excellent service Cleanliness: 10/10 Everything was spotless, smelled great and clean Staff: 10/10 The lady who served us was very polite and professional. She was also willing to answer questions about the culture. Atmosphere: 10/10 Very nice, although it was considered higher end compared to the average restaurant in Addis, it still had the feel and made me really homesick for Ethiopia. Busy: 2/10 There was only one other couple there when I was there, I came at 11:30am right when they opened Value: 6/10 The prices were kinda high, but that's probably due to availability, and there's only a handful of Ethiopian restaurants in the area. Overall: 10/10 Highly recommend this place for authentic Ethiopian cuisine, friendly atmosphere and just an amazing place to try something new if you've never had injera or this type of food. Much love to the owners አፈቅርሃለሁ
Stopped in here on a Monday night on a whim. We have eaten Ethiopian several times at places across the country and we were very impressed with Gojo! The house specialty beef was particularly delicious as well as all the veggies we ordered. Perfectly spiced. We will be back! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
