Steinbock - Lauterbrunnen

When we had eaten in an open restaurant in wengen, we decided to take the train to dinner after a loud fountain. we chose the steinbock, a blessed short walk from the station, since an iron rain began. the steinbock had a domestic feeling,...so we went with the homiest objects on the menu – a common cheese fondue to begin (excellent), a bratwurst with rosti for me (bratwurst — meh, rosti very good), and shattered and fritted cash for my wife (fish and side very good). dessert was a wow. with beer came the meal to chf 92.

Walked in, restaurant half full, if that. Waitress shouted “have you reserved?, tutted and walked off again. We didn’t wait to find out what the food was like.

Good choice of food and served by pleasant staff. Very reasonable for size of meal. Indoor and outdoor seating.

The restaurant attached to the Hotel Steinbock. This is a nice restaurant on its own merit with a cosmopolitan menu. Excellent service by the friendly staff. The breakfast here is also excellent for hotel guests if you stay here.

Tried to get in at lunchtime for a meal or a snack but the kitchen had just closed so we popped back for dinner. Reasonably busy for a Sunday night - one large party of excitable teens on an Environmental Studies tour from a Michigan.....Great Schnitzel, local Pinot noir (!) and a few beers. Reasonably priced, speedy service. Room was a bit loud but that was the Michigan teens shouting at each other.Overall a nice place to stop and right outside the station.
