Dinner with some workmates in this steak house restaurant, located in the corner of a strip-mall. Our table looked through a window where there was a constant stream of customers who went out and entered for a cigarette....Our table chose the $50 set menu that had a lot of $10 for fois gras entrée, $3 for the apple cake dessert, etc. The appetizers were good, the steak was a little hard and the frits were cold. Those who ordered profiteroles said they were dry and the cream brûlée was old. My smoked salmon and lemon saucer dessert were the best things I ate. Service is friendly. Don't take the table in the front window. You spend your meals watching groups of people coming in and out to smoke.
The food was decent, but the ambiance of the restaurant does not make it worth revisiting. The location was unappealing, with multiple closed businesses on the block and a lack of cleanliness outside. As a result, we chose not to return.
The wine selection and the beef tartare were both excellent. This is a great spot to visit with teenagers or friends.
Went here last night. Decor is so-so, nothing special but nice and clean. Service was very attentive and cordial. Beef tartare appetizer was good but a little small for the price. Salmon tartare had better flavours but again a bit small for the price. For...the mains, the braised deer was not melt-in-the-mouth as it should have been but flavours were nice. The octopus in dashi broth was decent but lacked a bit of oomph. As for the 45-day rib steak, the taste was pleasing, but explainably cold given the size of the meat. A little pricey but again explainable given the process for the ageining of the meat. The sauces that accompanied were a little thin and somewhat bland (pepper sauce and red wine sauce). The sides were the stars last night: fries, mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. The crème brulée was standard and the churros kindly offered by the waiter were excellent. Good time here but there are better places for the price and food.
