I used to stop by for a couple of slices before heading to the hair salon. The pizza is really tasty, and that's coming from someone who's lived in New York before. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the place is always clean, attracting loyal local customers. The prices are reasonable, and it's conveniently located with parking available across the street. Definitely worth a visit for a slice of pizza!
I absolutely love this restaurant; it's my favorite pizza spot without a doubt. If you believe that the mass-produced pizza from corporate chains is good, then stick with those places. Here, the ingredients are fresh and the pizza is cooked in New York style—it's simply amazing!
Yo. This is how it should be.... I 'm an Italian from Noo Yawk. I heard about Cosmo 's from a neighbor who heard me complain about the lack of good pizza here in Georgia. So I headed to old Lawrenceville to see for myself.<br/ <br/ The place is situated in downtown Lawrenceville across from the old courthouse. The inside will look familiar to any paisan hailing from Buffalo to Jersey: red and white checkered oilskin tablecoths covering metal tables, with metal chairs to sit on. A serve-yourself soda fountain is off to the side. A never-idle group of pizza ovens is off to the back, behind the counter. You can see clouds of flour throughout the back as pizza dough is being made. The place is usually crowded, since, yes, the pizza is that good.<br/ <br/ Angie is usually hidden behind the counter, taking orders, barking out commands, swearing at the ringing telephone, barely seen, because, well, she 's a little bitty thing.<br/ <br/ But don 't let her lack of stature fool you.<br/ <br/ Cosmo 's is run by diminutive Cosmo hence the name) and his equally diminutive wife, Angie. They are both from New York by way of Italy and have the accents and attitude to prove it. Angie channels a bit of Soup Nazi in her demeanor, but the place didn 't promise great atmosphere, it promises great pizza. And they deliver on that promise.<br/ <br/ Cosmo 's is about as close to the way pizza should be as you can get here. <br/ <br/ The crust is thin, with just the right mix of chewiness and crunchiness. They use a tomato sauce that tastes like what Nonna used to make, not too sweet, not too overpowering. Hey fellow Northerners, remember that pizza cheese that bubbles and oozes and undulates on a hot steaming pie? That 's what they use at Cosmo 's. <br/ <br/ And you know what won me over? I asked Angie if they used raw mushrooms on pizza, because that 's all they seem to serve here. I refuse to eat a raw mushroom on a pizza). She looked at me like she was about ready to tell her brother Guido that I should be whacked for even suggesting they used raw mushrooms on pizza and said, 'WHAT?! No! We saute da mushrooms in-a garlic and olive oil! Raw? You kidding me? '<br/ <br/ YES!!<br/ <br/ This is the way pizza is supposed to be. <br/ <br/ They serve other fare, like raviolis and lasagna. They 're okay, not bad. They also serve salads, which they serve with little plastic cups of what I 'm sure is Kraft bottled salad dressing. These things are okay, nothing great.<br/ <br/ But their pizza? Momma mia, you won 't be disappointed.
