Aux 4 gousses d 'ail (the sign on the building says 'Le Reterrais ' is a little restaurant in the small hamlet of Reterre in the Creuse. The owner-chef is lovely and he cooks wonderful food. During the week there is a menu for 13 euros (including a pichet of wine . At our visit today we had croustillant de fruits de mer (a vol-au-vent with a nice mixture of mussels and shrimp in a light cream sauce followed by the most juicy and tender pork loin slices in a port and mushroom sauce with very garlicky potatoes sarladaise. This was followed by a small salad-cheese plate (very fresh salad greens with a nice vinaigrette, and three generous slices of cheese. Dessert was a fresh strawberry mousse. The wine is good, the bread delicious and the house dog, Chou-Chou is a delight. I would urge anyone in the area to support this restaurant. The chef obviously cooks with skill, love and attention. A real little gem.
