The Backyard Bbq - Leavenworth

**Restaurant Review Summary (Visited on 7/26/2017)** We dined outdoors with my sisters on a sunny afternoon at a place featuring a stage for live music and a striking blue chalk wall. We really enjoyed the pulled pork and egg-free banana pudding, perfect for those with allergies. The special drink of the day, the Moscowonder Mule, was incredibly refreshing. However, I was somewhat disappointed by the beer selection. We arrived for a late lunch around 1:15 PM. The venue is dog-friendly, which was great since it was too hot to leave our dog in the car, and it's also suitable for children. It's worth noting that this restaurant has a separate room but is often confused with the nearby brewery, DogHaus Braut. As for the menu, we had a variety of meat options that day, including smoked chicken, pulled pork, and smoked sausage. My wife and I each ordered the pulled pork BBQ meal, which comes with two sides. We chose baked chips, banana pudding, and baked beans to accompany our meal. Both the pulled pork and BBQ sauce were outstanding, along with the banana pudding. The baked beans were delicious and had real pulled pork mixed in, although we wished they were a bit sweeter, perhaps with some brown sugar. The Moscow's Mule was a standout special drink on a hot day; my wife enjoyed two of them! I opted for two beers from their selection, but I was let down by the beer choices available. The DogHaus Sit Stay IPA tasted very homebrew-like, and the selection was largely limited to well-known breweries from Washington like Elysian, Bellevue, Black Raven, and Rogue. I had hoped to find beers that weren’t available west of the Cascade Mountains or unique German options to complement the Bavarian theme of Leavenworth. While there was no live music during our visit, the background music was predominantly instrumental radio and funky R&B, which was enjoyable. Overall, this outdoor space is fantastic and offers excellent food and special drinks. Despite my disappointment regarding the beer selection, there were still a few options I enjoy, such as Elysian Space Dust and Black Raven Trickster IPA. I would happily return to this restaurant—it's likely we'll find ourselves here again on a future visit!

The pulled pork tacos are to die for! The staff is friendly and humorous, the live music was excellent, and the open-air atmosphere was refreshing and lovely. We had a fantastic time here last weekend.

Wow! This is my favorite spot in Leavenworth! We stumbled upon it while searching for late-night food, and it turned out to be a fantastic find. It was a free day just before graduation, so we were among the few patrons there. They kept the kitchen open for us, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely dinner. The food was amazing, the service was great, and they made us feel like we had been regulars for years. The BBQ was excellent; and as someone from Texas, I know a thing or two about BBQ and chili. I highly recommend this hidden gem. It's located on the first floor, towards the back, so you might have to look for it, but the BBQ is definitely worth the search.
