The first time in Kansas and I came over this wonderful restaurant. My waiter was very attentive and gave great recommendations. The ambience is magnificent. Eat fresh and amazing taste. Presentation nice. When in Overland Park, KS make this a stop for great culinary experience.
They did not even serve Wasabi (not even the dye-horseradish-in-a-tube imitation) with their sushi. I took this as a sign of their trust in their fresh fish, and they really tasted great. Each piece of fish was as thick as a plate, compared to other farms I was. They had Toro (fatty tuna) and Japanese university (sea urchin) as specials, rarely in this area. The price was indeed steep, especially for the specials, but for sushi is never too cheap for this amount and quality, especially when KC is nowhere near oceans. The waitress Tat was very friendly and attentive and explained the food in detail. It really helped me make decisions. The only thing that wasn't too par was the Yakitori. The use of chicken breast instead of thighs was a strange choice, and the spikes were cooked on a large grill instead of the traditional narrow, so that both ends of the spikes ended as coal. It didn't affect the taste very much, but the holding end was very brittle. Also the paprika were not a good choice – use Laeks instead.
