I finally had the opportunity to stop by on my way to a hockey tournament in Bethlehem, PA. I tried the catfish sandwich, which was a special that day, along with the New England clam chowder. Honestly, it was the best fish sandwich I've ever had—absolutely delightful! The chowder was fantastic as well. While I was waiting, I had the pleasure of meeting Mark and some of the staff. He was a genuinely nice guy, and the team was incredibly friendly, well-trained, knowledgeable, and engaging. While I waited, I was treated to some sashimi and an oyster, along with great recommendations for places to visit in Bethlehem. The freshness and flavor were unmatched! I'm really regretting not coming here sooner and can't wait for my next visit. It was truly an epic experience!
I placed a phone order, which is especially convenient for special items if you call 48 hours in advance. When I called to order west coast oysters and uni, I spoke with Mark, the fishmonger. He took the time to ask me about my plans for the uni and offered fantastic advice on recipes, including how to best incorporate it into my pasta and the ideal way to cook the garlic for the dish. I really appreciated that! The oysters were absolutely fantastic—much larger than the tiny ones I had in Boston earlier that week! They also cleaned and prepared the oysters for us, which delighted me since I love enjoying oysters without having to worry about shucking or cleaning them myself. We will definitely be returning and bringing our family along with us. I can already see a big Christmas Eve order in our future, especially since they had some beautifully presented prawns and calamari!
Absolutely amazing! What an incredible place! It was my first visit, and I was truly impressed. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a stunning array of boutique-style pastas that are simply beautiful. They even have a lovely selection of gluten-free options—check! Once you navigate through the pasta section, you reach the fish area. Be prepared to spend around $45 to $50 for a steak of halibut or tuna, but trust me, it's well worth it. The fishmonger even filleted pieces of tuna and salmon for us to sample—exquisite service and top-quality products. We also ordered a tray of freshly shucked oysters, which were prepared right on the spot and served on ice with delicious sauces and lemons. We headed to the patio to enjoy our seafood lunch/snack. We also indulged in some delicious Swedish licorice. I can't wait to come back!
The seafood is fresh. There are a lot of choices. The staff go out of their way to help you. The owner is really nice!
Not our first visit at this true Seafood Market, we wanted to share this experience with our daughter who was visiting from out of town. We picked great fresh seafood along with some other great picks, like GF pasta and their incredible Cole Slaw. So, what are you waiting for and get down to The Metropolitan Seafood Market.
