Ipsum Vinoteca - Leeds

Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to expectations. The menu read very well, but we found the food quite bland and tasteless, yet exceptionally expensive.

I had an absolutely great time in ipsum vinoteca, the service was great, food is made from the order and is fantastic and the wine list is great and affordable. I fully recommend!

We had dinner at 9:00pm after a long day, and it was just what the doctor ordered. Rump steak was superb as tender as fillet and packed with gamey flavour. A vegetarian option with mozzarella was equally good. There is a standout list of some 300 Italian wines at all prices. We had a 10 y o turasi (the south's answer to barolo), and it was the real thing. The quality of the food and drink makes sense when you know that food is locally sourced in Yorkshire and that the wine comes from an importer who deals with smaller Italian growers. Meat from a farm in Ripon is organic and properly hung. The menu changes daily, reflecting the best produce available on the day. The dining area is unfussy, with little decoration other than a wall lined with bottles of wine. There is a live jazz performance on Thursday evenings, possibly a little intrusive if you want a quiet tete a tete, but of course you can just pick another day. Food is reasonably priced. I'd like to go back and try one of the many bottles of wine at around £30, which would make for a very reasonably priced dinner, but I was really impressed to find a great turasi in the UK, which was well worth the £60 asking price. Mains were about £15. As well as an award winning list of Italian wines, Ipsum carries a large number of Italian craft beers. Wines, beers and also balsamic vinegars and olive oils can be bought to take away. So, a restaurant and wine bar that sells very, very good food and wine in an unpretentious style in an unpretentious setting and delivers real quality. We will definitely be returning.

Most amazing host, accomodated requests for prosseco to be brought to the table after we sat down and even went out and got flowers! Couldnt have asked for a better place to pick to eat and the food was deleicious as wel great place
