Definitely not tempura light batter and chicken bao, chicken pieces in bao buns and a sweet chilli dip…. Again this was ok…. My partner got a sirloin with chips… now on a few occasions when we visited, the chef struggles with temperature hence why we no longer frequent here this time it was spot on, the sides change from button mushrooms to flat mushrooms, the tomato from half tomato to vine tomatoes, I guess they just work with what they have… the peppercorn sauce is ok… the service is always great, no matter how busy the restaurant is…. For a late night stop this place used to be so much better, but for now is ok…
Overall a lovely evening with friends, food lovely, waitresses great. But just a couple of points that niggled me. Used to come a lot here before covid and always used to do “dine in style” as we did this evening. Bread and butter used to be complimentary but now it’s charged for. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand cost of things have gone up and I was more than happy to pay, but if I was to say “I’d of liked some bread with my butter” would you know what I mean?… 4 mouthfuls of bread, ie 1 per person (as the menu does state, serves 4) was not impressed by that. The 3 courses we had though were spot on… all beautifully presented tasted as good as they looked. Service, as always, very good, waitresses all very happy friendly and extremely attentive. My next point that annoyed me slightly was when we went down to the casino tables. Love a game of roulette, used to be a 25p, 50p £1 table… now all tables were £1… then to be told our £5 chip that we got in our dine in style package couldn’t be changed for £1 chips the £5 had to be played in one go. All for places needing to build money back up after covid, cost of living increases etc… but in all honesty it could potentially do more harm than good. May sound daft after having such a nice evening, but I won’t be as quick to head back, and unfortunately where I used to rave to friends family about how good it was, that will be the thing now, how good it “was” and not “is”…
Just wanted to put a review on about the actual casino (gambling) part. The minimum bet is now 50p (used to be 25p), which makes it less affordable to start with. I went last night with my Husband at 5pm and had the 3 B meal, which was lovely. The only roulette tables open were all £1.00. The 50p tables wasn't, so we asked the pit boss if they were opening it....7pm he said. We waited until 7pm (used the £1.00 table in the meantime, but our pennies didn't last long. 7pm came so we went down to the 50p table asked pit boss again, to which he replied it's opening at 8pm! Hmmm..I know they have to make back the money they lost in covid, but the place was dead and I can only guess it's because they are pricing normal people out. I think the only people who can afford it now are the rich, or hardened gamblers. Such a shame as we love Naps and have been going for years. Probably won't be going back though all the old croupiers seem to have left and have been replaced by personality free robots.
Visited with my husband for a mid-week treat. We have dined here several times and have never been disappointed. Tonight’s meal was outstanding. Top quality fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly and really added to the whole experience. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the young girl serving but she was amazing. A real credit to the team.
We had bought a selection of various vouchers at a charity event, and one of them was for a “Champagne dinner for two” at this restaurant. We like champagne, dinner and a little flutter….sounds like a perfect evening. And it really was!! The staff were so welcoming, so friendly, professional and yet still so down the earth. There was a bottle of Moët on ice waiting for us. We both had the fish cake starter, followed by fillet steak from the grill. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We were too full for dessert! We had read some good reviews on here before we went, but it honestly surpassed our expectations. What a great place. Unfortunately we didn’t win in the casino….but I can’t blame the restaurant for that!! We would highly recommend dining here.
