The Supper Club - Leeds

We ate here on Saturday night, and may I say we will be eating here again and again and again. We arrived at 8pm with our bottles of wine (its bring your own wine) and was warmly greeted and taken to our seats, our wine was opened and the other bottle was kept chilled for us in there fridge. We was left alone to enjoy a glass of wine, then the waitress came over and read us the menu. 3 starters, Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup, Serrano Ham and Celeriac Remoulade, Smoked Chedder and Tomato Tart. I opted for the Soup and my partner opted for the Tart. The soup arrived along with the tart, it was beautifully presented the soup was served with garlic croutons and a beautiful basil oil. As for the tart it came sat on a bed of rocket with a balsamic dressing over the rocket. As for the taste of the dishes my god, the soup was so full of flavour and the added extras of croutons and oil just added to the flavour. My partners tart looked so enjoyable I had to have a mouthful and the flavours were exceptional the cheese was really well matched with the Tomato sauce and combined with the rocket salad was brilliant. The mains, were Pork Chop served with piquant sauce (tomato and red pepper), Chickpea Curry served with Cous cous, and Grilled Sea Bass Ceaser Salad. We both opted for the Pork Chop. With full view of the kitchen you can see the Chef preparing all the dishes main fresh in full view of the customers which is a first, no microwaves involved, which happens in most establishments. After around 10 minutes of our starters were cleared mains arrived, and WOW, a pork chop, a pork meatball stuffed with blue cheese, roasted carrots and parsnips, green beans, garlic potatoes and the sauce was amazing, the pork chop was beautifully cooked . Was well seasoned and so moist, the veg was well cooked and worked well with the chop and the little stuffed meatball was so tasty. We was well feed after the meal and sat an enjoyed the rest of our wine. All this came to £30, there was a dessert option which was one of there beautiful cupcakes but had no room left! We asked what nights the Supper Club was on and it was Thurs Sat which was a shame as it could be full every night. A hidden gem with a very talented chef!

We went to a charming and casual supper club with a limited but fresh menu featuring seasonal ingredients. If you're not too picky, you'll enjoy the selection of starters and mains, which include options for vegetarians, fish lovers, and meat eaters. On rare warm days, the hidden garden is a beautiful place to dine. You can bring your own wine and the friendly staff will happily chill and serve it for you.

If you weren't aware of its existence, you might easily overlook the charming Sunshine Bakery. As a local resident, it is one of my preferred spots to satisfy my sweet cravings. Each day, they prepare a delectable assortment of cupcakes using a secret recipe. My favorites include peanut butter, double chocolate, and strawberry flavors. In addition to cupcakes, they also bake their own bread and create homemade sausage rolls, resulting in a delicious selection of sandwiches. The atmosphere resembles that of a quaint tea room, complete with delicate china cups and teapots. Despite its small size, the cozy layout is quite enjoyable. On warmer days, patrons can also enjoy the outdoor garden area with additional seating. I had the pleasure of attending one of their cupcake icing classes, which was accompanied by a delightful afternoon tea. In the evenings, they host supper clubs that have garnered rave reviews, although I have yet to experience them myself. There are rumors of plans to expand with a new takeout deli in Meanwood and additional locations in Leeds city center. If you have a penchant for cupcakes, it is definitely worth the trip, even if you are not a local resident!

We made a reservation for a table for two on a Thursday night. Despite being the first to arrive, we were seated next to the door, which kept hitting our chairs and table every time it opened. Even though we had ordered two meals, our food was mistakenly given to a table of three customers. After some time, we received an apology. Unfortunately, the main courses were served cold, except for the fish which was freshly fried. We received muffins to share as an apology for the mix-up with the tables. The staff were friendly, but overall, it was a disappointing experience. It seems like this restaurant is overhyped for no reason.

We went to the Supper Club on a Friday evening (I believe the supper club runs from Thurs-Sat weekly). It is housed within the Sunshine Bakery in Chapel Allerton. The deal – 2 courses for a set price of £15. Menu is a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains, always with a vegetarian option. Drinks – this is a rare ‘bring your own booze’ place. There is no corkage fee and the staff are happy to store your wines in the fridge until you are ready for them to bring them out to your table. Water for the table is free and brought out in a teapot to serve in cups and saucers – quirky perhaps, but I quite liked this little touch. Seating – there is limited (and fairly cramped) seating inside. They have a little garden out the back which has far more elbow room and is a really nice space to sit in, and is covered by a canopy. It doesn’t have heating or much in the way of lighting so I expect that summer months would be your best bet for eating here. Maybe outdoor heating will be in place by the winter. Food – we loved it!. Puddings are limited to cupcakes and brownies – they really aren’t necessary after eating 2 hearty courses, but we bought some to nibble on and take home after anyway, just because we are already fans of their cupcakes. Our starter choices were – Serrano ham and celeriac coleslaw with caramelised peach, cherry tomato tartlet with Yorkshire blue and balsamic, red pepper soup. Mains options were – pork chop with caramelised apple, potatoes and carrots, asparagus tartlet with superfood salad, Salmon Caesar. (See pictures) Booking – places need to be pre-booked as there are so few covers available. We arrived at 7.15 and it was getting dark by the time we had finished. There was no rush to move on and it doesn’t look like they try to shoehorn more than one dinner service per table during the evening. I would recommend giving the place a try, it’s a bonus to have found somewhere in my local community that’s within walking distance from home. One minor niggle is that no-one warned us that you can only pay by cash – our bill was soon sorted as there are plenty of cash points in Chapel Allerton, but it would have been nice to know beforehand.
