Fantastic eating and the nicest crazy chicken lady I've ever met!

First, our waiter didn't introduce himself, and I had to ask for his name after he visited our table three times—his name turned out to be Paul. He then informed us that they were out of filet mignon, but we were okay with that since most of us were looking forward to the lobster. We ordered several appetizers and drinks, still hoping to enjoy our evening, but when it was time to order our meals, Paul told us they were out of lobster as well! How can you feature a dish on the menu and not have it available? It was frustrating that we weren't informed earlier, allowing us the option to choose another restaurant before committing to drinks and appetizers. To make matters worse, Paul made a strange comment to my cousin, suggesting she had a twin because he thought he recognized her from a previous visit. None of us had ever dined there before, which made his comment baffling and rude. The only positive aspect of our visit was the hostess and a waitress who kindly offered to take our picture when we first arrived. Paul’s service was disappointing and disrespectful, so we decided to leave and find another place for dinner. I felt embarrassed since I had chosen the restaurant and had heard great things about it. This will definitely be our first and last visit. If only Paul had realized that we are generous tippers; he lost out on a significant tip due to his poor service.

Food is superb, service is exceptional. This place has been around for years, if you haven't tried it, you should. It's a great place for a special dining celebration. Even I'm normal times their dining room is spacious, so you don't feel like your hearing everyone's conversation.

I’m a bit of a BBQ sauce enthusiast, and I have to say that KCL's homemade sauce is some of the best I’ve ever tasted—not just from a store-bought container! The food is absolutely delicious, too good to fully describe. However, what really draws me back is the chicken lady herself! She always greets you with a big smile and genuinely appreciates her customers, many of whom she knows by name. I’ll definitely be back soon!

We enjoyed our first visit to The Wooden Nickel very much. We visited for my husband's birthday and had a special night. We had a drink each, appetizers, and our main dishes were vanilla shrimp (me) and steak (husband). Everything was delicious. The service was fine. The food took a little while to come out, but we were in no hurry. We plan to go again, and I may have to up my rating to a five if the experience is equally satisfying.
