It felt like walking into an 1800’s Opium den, but the Opiu coffee was quite delicious. I got a quad shot latte, and it was entirely palatable.
I have fallen in love with this place! Excellent coffee, food and staff!!!
Best cafe in the area and my all-time favorite place. The staff is always wonderfully friendly and helpful, the food and coffee are incredible, and the vibe is hard to beat. It's just far enough from the Penn State campus that it's not crammed with undergrads; while I was a grad student at PSU, I spent a LOT of time here while working on papers/my dissertation. It's a great cafe to work in, if that's your style: music is always pleasant and on the quieter side, and it's rarely chaotic or loud inside. You can usually snag a table and chair if you enjoy your coffee/tea there, which has the added bonus of your beverage coming in big beautiful homemade mugs from a local potter (which you can purchase if you want). Tons of vegetarian food, all of which is delicious. I live hours away now, but every time I'm vaguely in the area I go out of my way to stop here for a coffee and egg sandwich, and to get a couple bags of coffee beans to take home to tide me over until I'm next in the area.
The chai tea latte is perfect — not overly sweet, and the quiche of the day (many root vegetables) was delicious! All things fresh and homemade. Plus handmade pottery. Best local vibe!
