Well of we went for lunch. Roger (husband) Denny and Pete (friends) and Denny's mum Joan. We arrived to a half full restaurant most of the 'lake view' tables had been reserved. The restaurant......well bistro really is adequately furnished and decorated definitely not a candle lit supper place, more lets go eat and go kind of place. A menu of a dozen or more dishes was displayed but when we tried to order at least six of the options was "off the menu" so eventually we ordered our food. Joan is an older lady who wanted a salad, when she saw the size (they are HUGE) she asked if she could have a smaller one? A short No the salad is the salad was the response. Joan is over faced when her plate is filled so Denny had to wrap at least half the salad in serviettes and put it in the bin before Joan could even start on her lunch! Any way the food.....wow did they redeem themselves here......huge portions of very nicely cooked and presented food. Our meals varied from steaks, which were nice and tender, to burgers that were so tasty with loads of salad and nice chips and as I've said huge salads with loads of meat in them and a really tasty dressing. Then desserts, again we all enjoyed our puddings, me and Joan had the chocolate fondant and highly recommend it, Pete and Roger had the cafe gourmand and argue that theirs was better than ours....no we say....but it looked pretty good. Denny had some of nougat and she liked hers to. So all in all food wise tres Bon . They need to think about the bistro itself...it's functional and ok , if your sitting at the lake view tables I imagine it's great. Also the waitress although I have to say she mellowed and our original impression that she was a little brusque and unhelpful was revised by the time we were leaving, because this little young woman was attending to all the diners on her own and she ran around the restaurant trying to attend to everyone's needs for three hours plus and we still managed to get some smiles from her. The toilets were ok , one was out of order leaving one in use for males and females, however the disabled toilet was available......but no towels for had drying has been provided. But we had a good time..,good company and good friends. Go there for a good no nonsense huge lunch and you won't be disappointed .
This is only open in season but starts from Friday pm - Sunday pm in May and is open almost continuously in July and August when the lifeguards are on duty. Limited menu but with home cooked pizza and a daily special on their set menu. Good to while away a couple of hours looking at the lake and the mountains.
