A real taste of home for a couple of old ex pats, keep up the good work.
We stumbled across La Roulotte whilst driving around Sables D'olonne looking for somewhere to park. The smell from the van was mouthwatering so reasonably priced €7.50 for a good sized portion of fish chips. The day was wet and windy, so we...were given cutlery and plates after we explained we would eat in the car. The child's portion was excellent value too the ladies were brilliant with him. The fish was meticulously prepared, fresh on site and you could tell. The best fish I think I've ever had beautiful crispy batter and soft fragrant fish delish! It is obviously very popular with the locals, as there was a constant stream of people popping by. We had home made tartare sauce to go with it, which was also yummy as were the chips. Yes, there is Sarson's vinegar on sale, as well as Old Speckled Hen and other English beers. We will be going back hopefully next year and I do hope this little gem will still be around. Tres bon!!
Best fish and chips I've ever eaten cooked while you wait so fresh, all consumed with a cold wheat beer, all perfect.
We were curious to try this place because of its good reviews, and arrived only at 12 noon, but it was locked and a small sign said it was closed until 2 July. It's a pity that the owner hadn't put the closure on Trip Advisor and her own website, as we would have avoided a wasted trip.
We returned this year to this fish 'n' Chiphütte at our summer holidays. The fish is fresh and painfully filled and boned, cooked in a beautiful dough and I think the chips are actually boiled three times. The ladies who do this niche square are fantastic .. passionate about what they do and eager to talk to their customers. You go so far to have some Irish beers and actively encourage you to bring your own beer and wine if you want. Fantastic place where you can sit on some cheap and cheerful furniture to dedicate your purchase.
