The Church Restaurant, Bar Cafe

We dined as a group of 14 for a special occasion. I had emailed ahead of time and was informed that there was a set menu for groups of 12 or more, and that a Sunday roast special would be included. However, upon our arrival, we were told that this was not the case. Most of the food was delicious, particularly the starters and desserts. Unfortunately, 5 out of the 14 people ordered well-done steaks, and all of them were served medium at best. We paid an extra charge to have the steaks cooked to our preference, which was disappointing, especially since we were treating our guests and they may not have felt comfortable voicing their concerns. The service for the main courses was also slow, with a 10-minute wait between the main dishes and the accompanying sides. Most frustratingly, I followed up with an email to the restaurant detailing these issues, but a week later, I have yet to receive a response. Because of these experiences, I would not recommend The Church for similar events.

Had a really lovely dinner here. Lots of options on the menu, and so accommodating for dietary requirements! Everything we had was delicious and the staff couldn't have been nicer!! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €30–40

The young staff were very pleasant and helpful, the restaurant was empty apart from ourselves and 3 people outside. The food was lovely, we had 3 small children with us and the staff were very helpful. The kids food was so nice and the breaded fish goujons were lovely I have one minor complaint, I had the sous vide chicken with gnocchi, very well plated and cooked, but there was so much butter and salt used that after 5 minutes, it was difficult to eat, I did finish it. The beer battered fish was not crispy. Just little things. I would recommend it though.

We went to the restaurant as part of a package deal with Rockhill. The food was great, but we have 3 main complaints. 1) Overcharged. We were charged too much for dinner. It took two goes to try and resolve this issue. We were charged extra for sides that came with the dinner €4.5*2=€9). We were also charged extra for a sauce. There are multiple choices for sauces. My wife asked for one and was given two by the server. An easy enough mistake to make, but not one we should have been charged for. We were refunded, but it took a considerable amount of effort and pointing out exactly where we were overcharged on the bill. We were first refunded for the sides and later refunded for the sauce. 2) No receipt. This is never a good sign, and it was made out that we were being awkward asking for one. We either weren 't given one because it was a simple mistake, or we were knowingly overcharged. 3) Curtness. I didn 't appreciate how my wife was spoken to. She asked a very simple question which was 'We have a package with the hotel where dinner is covered to a certain amount. How much is that amount? ' The server acted as if this was a massive inconvenience sighing, tapping her pen off the counter, throwing her arms up in the air and eventually saying 'I dunno, it 's approximately €40 '. For those of you who are unaware, it 's €40 pp. We were told by the staff of the hotel that the staff of the Church are fully aware of this. It is a simple question, and I 've never had someone in a restaurant get angry with me asking where the toilet is, so it 's totally unacceptable to get in a huff over this question. The restaurant had less than fifteen people in it and was not busy. The next day, we were asked to wait in the reception of Rockhill. A manager eventually came alone and handed us a printed out copy of our receipt. She said sorry and insisted we take the receipt. I have yet to see what the point of handing us a printed out copy of an incorrect receipt was. The experience here put a real damper on our honeymoon and we won 't be coming back.
