My sister and mother ordered a Devonshire tea with a pot of tea, while I ordered 16 points of sandwiches and a pot of tea. The waiter informed us of the sandwich fillings, which were not what we expected - tuna, vegetarian, ham cheese, and chicken mayo. The fillings were very generous and piled high on simple white plates. When our food arrived, there wasn't enough space on our table so some sandwiches were balanced on the fence railing! The jam provided was strawberry, which my sister and I are allergic to. When we asked for an alternative, the waiter seemed confused and eventually brought blackberry jam. The cream was a very small amount straight from the can. The bill came to over $80, with $48 for 4 rounds of sandwiches being quite exaggerated. Even half that amount would have been too expensive for what we received. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We came here because tea towels didn't realize there was a teapot museum. Tea was served hot, the Scones were warm, served with a lot of jam. The service was a bit slept when they were young teenagers... don't know what they're doing. The teapot museum was very fascinating, most teapot I've ever seen. They came in all shapes sizes from nice delicate to trendy funky. worth a visit
We were ignored for 25 minutes before we can order and then another 45 minutes to wait for the meal. And the most annoying part is the waiters, waiters and even the managers just go through our table, ignore our waving hands. And they didn't say they were sorry to let us wait so long without explanation. I don't know if it's because we're Asian, but whatever the reason I will definitely never come back.
We booked a table for four for Devonshire tea (one gluten free) for lunch and were not disappointed. The venue was a warm and welcoming haven from the lunchtime mist and drizzle outside. We took some time to wander through the teapot museum (free entry...with a meal purchase) as well as exploring the interesting and at times, entertaining gift shop. At our booked time, we took our seats at our table, and were duly served our respective tea, chai, and yes, coffees, along with our delicious fluffy scones. One of our group had gluten free scones, which the recipient commented “as good as I make myself!” A great venue to relax for an hour or so on a cool, misty and rainy lunchtime in the mountains in July!
My wife and I visited in our way to Wolgan Valley as recommended by the resort. So glad we stopped by not only for the tea and scones but to visit the huge array of tea paraphernalia. I had trouble convincing my wife to leave....Well worth a visit. The scones well 10 out of 10!!
