It snowed most of the time during our walk, so we missed out on what are probably spectacular views but this didn't detract from our enjoyment. The staff were very welcoming and the usual choice of food and drinks were just what we needed.
The standard of mountain cafes in this are is generally very good and this is no exception. Yoy can walk up from Klamm either via a road which is better in icy weather or a much steeper direct track, which we took. Either way it's a very pleasurable and is rewarded with some fabulous views acrosst the valley to the south and to Hohe Munde. We only had coffee and kuchen, the latter freshly baked and beaultiful. We saw some delicious looking mountain food being served to other tables. Well worth the trip. The walk is rated at 2 hours or so but if your'e a good walker you can do it in about half that. It's also possible to drive most of the way but that's worth checking beforehand.
We chose this hike especially as the cottage was advertised as open in winter. Only when we arrived, we learned that they were closed. It was a Sunday and not only let us, but many others disappointed. Please update your website if you temporarily close!
Beautiful, picturesque little cottage with a great view of the Alps. It took about 90 minutes over ice-covered hiking trails. The owners were great fun and we had a nice conversation. The cabin offers a simple menu, but it is absolutely delicious. We tried three soups and the Kaiserschmarrn - the best I had in two years!
A rustic cottage covered with flowers. Nice place to rest after a few hours walk before returning to the mountain.
