Catfish cooked well , hush puppies were very tasty (although a bit small) , and the white beans were excellent. The prices were reasonable also. The view was great of the lake , and the restaurant was very clean. We met the owners and were very impressed with them and their new ideas. I will definitely be back soon.
Beautiful drive on our way home from Bowling Green to Madisonville. Enjoyed the trip a great deal--nice people, excellent food, very inexpensive.
Called a month in advance, took several days and messaging to get confirmation. When we arrived they said there was no reservation for us. Manager never came out to talk to us, we had to talk to a teenage girl who went back and forth with us and the manager in a back room. The windows in our room was filthy and there was no phone in the room. Dead flies on the windows sill.
This is not about the hotel but of the restaurant. My wife and I took a road trip into Kentucky this morning with the idea we’d stop for lunch at Lake Malone. My wife had the Senior catfish dinner and I opted for the Bourbon Pork Nachos after being told they had no more turkey for the turkey club sandwich. I enjoyed the homemade complimentary potato chips as we waited a bit too long for our meal. When the waitress showed up with our plates, I was underwhelmed to say the least. I will sum the meal up with a quote from my father, “Some places take perfectly good food and make garbage out of it”. We will not be back. In response; Will, I appreciate your concern and hope you fair well in your endeavor. As I stated in my previous post, “We will not be back”. I find no reason to patronize bagged tortilla chips, canned vegetables or dried out smoked pork saturated in some overly sweet sauce to bring it back to life. Between the catfish dinner and the pork nachos, you made more than enough money on less than mediocre food and we eliminated a return trip. We created a memory we won’t forget and you lost customers you never really had. We wish you the best.
Don't know anything about the lodge or restaurant but we rented a boat. Told we could rent as early as 8am but choose 9am. The manager told us be there 15 minutes early. I called for 30 minutes before arriving no one answered or returned call. Finally someone arrived after 9am. If you want good correct service this isn't the place. The open times on all their websites are wrong which makes it very difficult to know when to actually be there. I know they were having website issues and I was unable to rent boat on day I wanted but was able to book one for next day. Very aggravated. 1st time visiting this area and both experiences with this place has been awful I was told you open at 8am that I could rent as early as 8am but I choose 9am then told to be there at 845am. So no you should had been open at 8am and should had someone to answer at 830am. Yes someone arrived after 9am which is what I have previously stated I was on the phone with my husband when they arrived at 9am... your site was not working the day before. This review was wrote after 9am which was the start of the rental. The whole business needs an overhaul and your websites need updating. I have nothing more to say to you as the issue is a mute point. I am encouraging others to find a better place to rent from and get bait from as your place is unpredictable.
