The Local Taco - Lexington

Really the best tacos in town. It's always very fast which is awesome for those in a hurry or getting food in between classes. The queso is always delicious too.

Update (August, 2017): Well, the brunch was very disappointing, at least in our opinion.  The tacos were served cold, and those on the main menu are much better, both in creativity and taste.  The potatoes regular and sweet potato were underwhelming and not worth the calories.  We will be sticking to the main menu from now on.<br/ <br/ Not our favorite tacos in Lexington (which can be found at Ellos), but consistently satisfying over the years and always a fun environment.<br/ <br/ The Local Taco is usually busy, whether it's lunch or dinner, so do expect a crowd. Lively atmosphere with good service and tasty margaritas. <br/ <br/ We have ordered nearly everything on the menu, but particularly like the Local BBQ (12 hour smoked pork butt, with jalapeno cole slaw and house made bourbon BBQ sauce), the Korean BBQ (Korean style beef tenders, sesame seared with Asian slaw, toasted sesame seeds and green onion), the Southern Fried (buttermilk fried chicken breast strips, with honey lime mayo, lettuce and tomatoes) and the Tequila Lime Chicken (marinated chicken breast, with verde sauce, lettuce and tomatoes). The Fish and the Smoked Brisket are also regulars in our taco rotation at The Local Taco. <br/ <br/ As for the sides, I enjoy the black beans, Mexican rice, and chips and salsa, but the seasonal Cuban corn, jalapeno cole slaw, and sauteed seasonal vegetables and turnip greens are the highlights here. <br/ <br/ The Local Taco, branded as a Tex Mex restaurant with a Southern twist, always hits the spot.

Fresh and so clean clean. I tried this place recently after a UK basketball game and was very impressed. I recommend the steak tacos, they were fresh tasting and delicious. You must try the mexi tater tots, best tater tots I've ever had!

Good tacos with unique ingredients (I prefer the fish and shrimp ones)<br/ The sides are also unique and well done<br/ Nice front 'patio '<br/ Can get crowded/long line<br/ Limited parking<br/ TIP #1: The format is to (1) order at the front register, (2) they will give you a number and a cup, (3) fill your drink at the drink area, (4) find a table, (5) display your number, and (6) the food will be brought to you.<br/ TIP #2: Since the sides are different/unique, you may want to look around at what other people are eating to get an idea of what you might like to order.

Perfect lunch spot! Two fresh tacos, side and a drink for $10. I had the steak taco and fish taco and they were both great. The mexi-tots are worth the extra 75 cents. Sat outside and service was quick. Can't wait to go back!
