Waxy’s Irish Kitchen Lexington

This is a great place for a relaxed lunch. The servers did an excellent job managing the flow of customers while also being attentive to everyone's needs. The prices are reasonable, and the food is quite tasty. Overall, it offers good value for your money.

Food was great quality and menu had something for everyone. Live band was excellent.

Waxy's was not a mitigated disaster but there are some real issues. Let's start with the PROS. PROS: The vibe was fun (a bit loud but fun), band was good, beers were cold, server was friendly. The hummus platter was decent with fresh veggies and warmed pita. Unfortunately, it goes way downhill afterward. CONS: We waited with menus at the table for over 10 minutes without anyone coming to the table for a drink order. Server was friendly but seemed overwhelmed. Drinks were ordered and it was a bit of a wait, nothing terrible. We ordered the poutine app and the hummus platter. Those came out quickly. Hummus platter was decent. Poutine, however, was awful. French fries were soggy with congealed cheese and gravy. Tasted flat and greasy. Dinner came out shortly after. Diner 1 had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was dried out, overcooked chicken. Sauce was okay. He didn't finish it. Diner 2 had beef stew. This was more like beef soup with only 3 or 4 tiny pieces of beef. He, too, did not finish it. Said flavor was decent but not like a stew and too cheap with the beef. Diner 3 had the pear salad with blue cheese. Said the blue cheese was bad, tasted weird. Some of the pieces of blue cheese had fur on them. She also did not finish her meal. I had the BBQ ribs. They were supposed to be marinated in Guiness and then topped with BBQ sauce. One end of the rack of ribs was okay, but the other end was burnt to a crisp. The BBQ sauce had a weird twang that I did not like. I ate 2 ribs. I subbed out the french fries for mashed potatoes. The quantity was generous but were tasteless. I put salt on them twice and still were tasteless. Overall, this was a very disappointing outing. This was my first time at Waxy's and I have absolutely no need to go back.

We made a reservation and drove all the way there, only to find that the restaurant was closed. How is it possible to have a reservation at a place that isn't even open?

This restaurant is permanently closed. Don't waste your time trying to visit!
