When you dine in and order their banana pudding, it is served in a styrofoam container with a plastic lid; so a takeout/to-go container. Well the last time we went, we literally just stopped in just to get a banana pudding to go. We were in the area and craving some dessert. When my husband got the receipt, they had charged us an extra takeout fee. My husband asked the employee about this and we were told it's charged on any takeout orders; even the desserts that are already packed in takeout containers. The employee wouldn't remove the extra charge when my husband pointed this out. I could see adding the fee if we had ordered multiple meals that had to be packed up but the desserts have always already been packed in to-go containers even if you eat them at the restaurant. This really put us off and my husband will not eat there again because of this. It's sad because the food is really good but little things like this; especially with prices on everything going up, will keep people from coming back.
Moved to the Kansas City are a few years ago. While I was looking for a home I tried the ribs at this place. We picked our home to be just up the street. Still the best ribs anywhere.
We ordered ribs, brisket and beans to go. Ribs and brisket were really good, we were just surprised how expensive it was for the amount we received. The beans seemed undercooked since they a bit crunchy. I gave it 4 stars since the meats tasted good.
Justin pig barbecue was a very good barbecue. Plenty of good options. I would recommend to guest visitors to the liberty area
This is a tough one for me. Its just different than what im used to in Texas. First BBQ place ive visited and it left me confused. Im used to BBQ owners being loud and proud of their meats. that when you walk in you are hit with smoke and smells and almost become a walking bbq joint all day after because the smell lingers in your clothes. And having all the meats up displayed while the guys cut your brisket, sausage or what have you as you order. Here...you walk in and there is one little menu sign. well the sign is huge..giant flat screen tv huge. but the words are tiny and its next to register so you cant read it while in line waiting. thus making the line take longer because everyone has to take time to read once they get to front. AND then the sign flashes off to say menu here or whatever so you have to wait and then find what you were trying to read before it switched messages. New tech but doesnt work. this is bbq. we dont need fancy or new . Then you order..and dont get your meat or sides to go sit and eat..the order goes to the kitchen..? why? what are they doing? its bbq..? its been smoking all night and day and ready to go..right? the sides are all hot and ready to go, right? We waited 20minutes for two burnt end sandwiches with undercooked fries... Cant say i was impressed. the whole experience was very strange for a bbq joint. i hope this isnt the norm for the mid west. i will be shocked. The burnt ends were quite fatty. normally may favorite part of the brisket. now the parts that were edible were very good. especially with the spicy sauce off the tables. (please take time to clean the sauce bottles and everything else. covid taught ya nothing apparently) like even once a week would be nice. the bathroom was disgusting. dont do it. just dont. Chunks for sandwich were too large to eat as a sandwich. and bun was super dry and cheap.
