We had to stick our heads in to the kitchen area to get served where several staff were and just chatting amongst themselves. We were asked if we wanted toast or bread and, despite asking for bread, were served toast. What a pity as it’s a great location with a varied menu. The staff need training.
Chilli’s is one of my main go tos for lunch. It’s always consistently great food and a great variety on the menu. The staff and service are great. But today I decided to try their burger for the first time and I have to say it’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I got the goat’s cheese beef burger and it’s absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced with flavour. The chips are tasty also as well as the side salad.
The best vegetarian wrap I’ve ever eaten! Truly delicious! Filled with an amazing array of ingredients from beetroot to hummus, avocado, pesto, rocket, mozzarella, jalapeños, tomato, cucumber. Gorgeous.
Food was nice, ideal for a quick lunch. However, sadly the rest of the experience was not. The staff were so unbelievably rude, the waitress who came to take my order didn’t even speak just stood staring. None of the staff were seen to smile, and it was not a welcoming experience. The toilet floor was also covered in water which was very slippy.
You will see from other reviewers, that I am not alone in my experience! I have also been threatened by the owner and his Facebook followers to take this review down, so in a show of defiance, I have added to it! Their mafia style tactics haven’t worked this time round! As a Travel Food journalist I’m absolutely disgusted with the price I was charged of €6.30 for a glass of fresh orange juice!! For example, I paid €6.00 for a coffee in Monte Carlo last months whilst on holiday! I cannot believe the owner, who is Polish just so you know I have the right place. I have been told by a number of people that cafes like this one here in Westport, have two menus, one for the locals and one for the people who they don’t recognise (Tourists) I just wanted a glass of orange juice (Cordial) just to take some headache tablets, I didn’t care that a hundred oranges were squashed in the process! Then, to make matters worse, at midnight last night, because I had commented on their Facebook page, I had four separate Polish people, one being the owner and his wife, having a go at me on Facebook. He told me on Facebook, that they have been a stand up business in Westport for 15 years, funny though, as all the staff were Polish and I didn’t hear one Irish voice, so he’s hardly contributing to the Local Economy!! If I were you, I’d avoid this place like the plague, Covid or any other festering disease you can mention!!
