We started with a glass of champagne each, followed by a bottle of rose. To eat; I had a beautiful prawn thai salad and OH had amazing duck with foire gras. Both incredible. Next came the best steak tartare we've over tasted (we eat it a lot! and sea bass with roasted veg, also delicious. For desert we shared a trio of lille dishes and a pavlova, all lovely but the starter and mains were the main events. Please visit, was all incredible!
Four of us had lunch here and were mightily impressed. A gentle fusion of European and Asian flavours and ingredients all beautifully cooked and well presented. The Menu Melting at €17 (lunchtime only) was exceptional value. Next time we are in Lille we know where to go!
Based on the Tripadvisor reviews we strolled in and found a table outside. Nice staff, good weather so what could go wrong. The food was beyond disappointing, maybe the chef was on holiday and a temp with zero cooking experience had taken over. The chicken with coconut milk was just that. Cooked pieces of chewy white chicken in coconut milk. No flavor. Don’t understand the high ranking, other than the vacation explanation above.
It's been 7 years... finally managed to get back to Lille.. and a favourite restaurant visit was top of the list of things to do! How fabulous to find the same friendly, warm people there... immediately.. you're at home...and you know you're in for a treat.. Always serving consistantly high quality, delicious, innovative dishes to delight all the senses.. Food presentation is beautiful, appealing and colourful... just right.. not over the top.. The tastes are wonderful.. and take you on a culinary journey of the world... It is a Masterful Melting Pot of culinary expertise.. The luxuriosly creamy risotto is divine, savoury and full of flavoursome italian accents .. .. and yet the chef also has the most wonderful touch with exotic spices ...so please try the whisper crispy crunch of the duck spring rolls with an aromatic, fresh dipping sauce.. alive with fresh coriander, ginger and chilli... For desert...I'm now converted to Brioche Bread pudding.. so light.. so right! I had to steal a spoonful of the melting middle chocolate fudge pudding too... oh my!! Wonderful! With a bottle of tangy yet refined rose, the bill came to a reasonable 100 euros.. Well worth it for this level of food, ambiance and service..(there was a perfectly acceptable choice on the fixed menu for 21 euros for 3 courses.. but.. I NEEDED to experience those wonderful tastes I described above once again.. in case it takes time to return to Lille).. Thank you to you lovely team at Melting Pot.. for bringing all my magic memories back to life again..
This restaurant is a hell of a mess. A small card, fresh, seasonal products and especially for all tastes on the same card. Chinese cuisine, Italian, French but everything is mastered! Atypical associations but they work so well. To give you a little idea, I tasted the Noix de Saint Jacques in its Thai broth with coconut milk, a smooth, citrus butter and sweet potatoes and to finish a lost bun, caramelized apples and almond milk ice. The menu is at 30 € for the entrance the dish and the dessert that remains very correct for this type of kitchen.
