Trinacria - Lille

Ideal location for nearby B&B (Lille aux Oiseaux) if too tired to venture far and very grateful for the recommendation from our hosts. The food and atmosphere was marvellous after managed to squeeze in though perhaps more suitable for a fun than a romantic meal.

Last October I was there with my husband, my mother and my little one almost 2 years ago. First of all nowadays which restaurant does not have a seat for a child??? Well, apparently Trinacria is one of them. We were actually supposed to go to eat in Piccolino, but the reservation booking system that evening was over and when we try to step out the place there were more than 50 people in line. In Lille on Monday evening is not easy to find a place to eat which is open, because it’s a day off for many restaurants and shops. Anyway, I called trinacria because the reviews were quite good and I expected to find a local Sicilian place handled by an Italian family. Well everything I had in my mind collapsed as soon we enter the pizzeria. The place is super small and look very old, it needs renovation and more cleanness. There was some forniture reminding Sicily and then next to it there was a kitchen counter with Arabic words (my husband is Arabic so we immediately notice and laugh about it), it was probably an Arabic restaurant before. Except the non caring part about details and forniture no one was Italian or could speak a good Italian or even English!! We ordered few things from menu’s that were not available so in the end we went for a pizza that was nothing special. very very disappointing! The only good think were arancini which were very delicious... so if you want some good arancini just take them away and not waste more money and time in such a place.

Although the place was fully booked on a Saturday evening, they managed to squeeze me in for a quick diner. I was alone so this perfectly suited me. As we were short on time, obviosuly there was no room for a 4 dish meal but the pasta they served was a good suggestion. Quick and good, I needed nothing more. Limoncello to top it off. Thanks to the friendly staff. Upon leaving, as I was having my camera with me, this was the main reason I was in Lille in the first place, I asked for, and got, a smile from the 2 waitresses. If they want that picture, they can always write me. ;

Restaurant typical Sicilian specialty, everything is delicious! I recommend! Heart-shaped pizza for Valentine's Day, very nice atmosphere

What to say about this so warm place! A well-present family spirit, a very generous and just kitchen. We're going back very regularly! And the waitress knows how to make irish coffee hiiiiii
