Many expensive cars in the car park so we went in. We were found a table after a couple of minutes, the place was busy, the food being served looked good. Drinks arrived quickly, followed by the main course, all looked well except the side dish of potatoes didn’t arrive. We had to ask for them! My wife enjoyed her goats cheese and portobello mushroom meal, I however did not enjoy my ribeye steak from the special of the day board. Every mouthful of meat had some hard or stringy bits in it that I was unable to chew properly, either leaving it on the plate or swallowing it if possible. The staff were very busy and were scruffily dressed and obviously untrained for the job at hand, nobody checked with us while eating. Maybe I should have complained, but after seeing the calibre of staff I decided to finish our meal and leave. Outside is the local ferry and some lovely views, but I cannot recommend this place for either food or service.
Poor service. We waited an age for the table to be cleared and had to ask a waitress to do this having watched them ignore us for the best part of 30 minutes. The restaurant was not busy at the time. No specific desserts for children only smaller portions of the adult versions.
Lovely place situated right by lough Foyle looking over into Donegal. We booked in advance as we wanted to eat in the bar and we have two dogs The Point Bar is dog friendly. 2nd visit this year, my daughter had Salmon and prawns, with fries, my wife had chicken stack and skinny fries and I ordered the chilli beef pitta, salted chilli chips and a mixed salad. Honestly it was so tasty, my beef pitta was delicious, all three of us cleaned our plates. For all of that, plus 2 pints of 00 Guinness, 2 cokes, 2 x 250ml bottles of Chilean Sauvignon for £85. Staff very helpful, extremely friendly and polite. Def we will be back soon!
Stopped for lunch at 12 o'clock before going over on the Lough Foyle ferry. Restaurant was chilly as it had just opened and raining outside. I did not realise there is a lunch menu as we were only given the full menu which is more pricey. However staff were pleasant and efficient; order came correctly, food was great and portions large! My chicken gougons were tender and nicely done and everyone enjoyed their meal. Happy to recommend and will definitely return.
Point team never disappoints! Fabulous, friendly and efficient staff, kitchen team know what they're doing, food great. Busy as expected for the weekend but in this lovely setting with it's brilliant views, who cares! Keep er lit folks x
