After being at an event catered by Corropolese's (hoagie platters and tomato pie) we decided to try their full size hoagies. An Italian and American were the choices, before I tell what happened I must confess they were training new employee that day. We stopped in on a trip back from Reading and were going to pickup sandwiches for dinner. Ordered them with oil and mayo on side as we would not eat them for 5 or 6 hours. After paying and leaving we discovered oil and mayo were not on the side to leave soggy rolls. Flavor and blend of meats left a tasty sandwich after open face toast in the oven. One of the few American hoagies made with bologna, yum, that was good too. Meat quantities were less than one of the other stores, but still was good. Large feeds two.
I visit Corropolese when I am in town to get my fiancée and her family (2-3x per month) primarily my Tomato Pie fix. Always enjoy my excursions and are there often!
My son and my family love this bakery, so when I knew they were going out of the state, my husband and I went to the Royersford shop to get a bunch of bread for them to take home. Although it was after noon, the place was busy. Everything is freshly baked daily; some things all day, so freshness goes on. We bought French, marmorrye and challah, Vienna and Italian roles, of course, in different shapes and sizes. At that time there was no sourdough, but there were two towers of the always popular tomato cake. Although everyone likes it, I didn't know how the travel advertising would be. The kids were disappointed that we didn't buy that too. All we bought is $10 and change in a very cheap gift! I noticed that while the checkout was rarely quiet. There was hardly a line. People are in and outsourced in a constant stream. It was very busy, but most people knew what they wanted, where it was, and were Swiss that they came in and went out. I pushed a walker and slowly practiced cases and shelves. It was tight, but there was plenty of space for all of us. I give him 4 stars instead of five because this is how my taste buds evaluate the fare. I don't know why, but a Jewish deli is more my style, or even a Scandinavian pastry business. Both Italians and PA Dutch, who are polite here, seem a bit dazzling to me. If these flavors delight you, then consider this bakery a 5-star place. Most of my family and friends do.
Great hay! Their provolone cheese has an amazingly stronger taste and their meats are very high quality. It is a great value to get a great hoagie for a reasonable price. Very recommended.
