Island Empanada - Lindenhurst

This review is about the employees and the lack of cleanliness at this establishment. I used to enjoy coming here, but today when I went to buy empanadas, the workers were visibly ill, coughing near the food. The same worker who handed me my food had obvious signs of illness and was coughing with boogers. I had to throw away all the food I purchased. I am very disappointed and disgusted.

I recently tried the chicken and cheese empanadas at this restaurant and found them to be delicious. Unfortunately, I can only give them 3 stars because the customer service was lacking. When I walked in, no one greeted me. There were three people in the restaurant - a middle-aged man, a woman, and a young girl - none of whom said a word to me. They all had unhappy expressions, especially the woman in the bar area. I decided to give them another chance the next day, but the service was even worse. The place was packed with teenagers behind the counter, but they were too busy chatting amongst themselves to take care of the customers.

I only tried the beef empanada, but the crust was crispy and flaky without being oily, and the beef was incredibly tasty.

The Empanadas (pastelillos) were amazingly delicious.

My god this place has such delicious food. We got food from there 2 days in a row. Get the oreo empanada for dessert. You won't be disappointed.
