The Matchmaker Pub - Lisdoonvarna

I went over for the festival and my mind was blown! The bar is a really adorable water hole and Willie was so welcoming! Curiosity made me book the trip, it was just beyond imagining. What a set up, what a weekend!

Dont know ht I as expecting but there was little atmosphere on a Friday evening in August. Entertainment was enjoyed by German visitors it wasnt for me.

We were traveling through the area and our driver told us about the matchmaker town and the festival. We had to see if for ourselves. Its a very interesting phenomena that has stood the test of decades. The Bar is the Matchmaker meeting spot during the festival. We are all married and not in need of a matchmaker but were interested to learn the details

Portion size was huge, I couldn't clear the plate. The food was very good, served hot and fairly promptly. I enjoyed a delicious steak that was perfectly cooked. However service was very haphazard despite there being plenty of staff on. The rush time was over and the restaurant was pretty empty, yet I still had to ask 3 times before receiving for the forgotten steak sauce. Certainly a good place to eat if visiting Lisdoonvarna, especially during the Matchmaker's Festival.

Go at the right time of year and you'll be lucky to get a seat here! Great atmosphere and someone, somewhere had a great idea at sometime and are they milking it now! Well done to them! Very popular during the Matchmaking Festival. Pints are good, as in every other pub! ENJOY!
