My wife and I had an amazing dining experience here this past Saturday. The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was exceptionally attentive, and the drinks were excellent. And the food... absolutely outstanding! It was the best meal we've had in years! The salad was superb, and the sausage and pierogi were simply divine. My wife said her pulled pork sandwich was the best she's ever had (and she grew up in South Philly). As for my filet, it was exceptional. We can't wait to return!
I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time. I used to frequent it when it was a butcher shop, mainly for sausages and steaks. I'm pleased to see that it's still open as a restaurant. The beer selection was impressive, with many different styles available. I tried the IPA and the Scottish Ale with mushrooms, which was unique but delicious. For appetizers, I ordered the Korean meatballs, and they were fantastic. The Reuben sandwich I had was also excellent. Since we live nearby, we’ll definitely be coming back. The restaurant was very clean, and the service was quick.
So we learned the hard way that this small town you have to have a reservation for dinner otherwise you don't eat. We went early like between 5pm and 5:30pm thinking we could grab an early dinner and reviews here were good. On arrival we waited a while before waitron asked us if we had a reservation and we said No. She proceeded to say we could come back after 8pm, as they only help those with reservations. We had looked at the website and it mentions you can call and leave a message or email about reservations but it didn't mention that you have to reserve and or you would be turned away. Sending an email without knowing didn't seem the way to go so we tried and failed. Interesting part to me is they do takeout she could have been friendlier and said we did have the option of doing a take out order. Instead her attitude was more like don't let the door hit you on your way out!
Everything is prepared on-site, except for the fresh bread that comes from a bakery in Philadelphia. The smoked wings were outstanding, featuring a tasty dry rub. The Rooster sandwich was crispy and paired perfectly with a flavorful sauce, and the herb parmesan fries are definitely worth upgrading to. They even brew their own beers! I can’t wait for my next visit! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner.
