Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard - Livermore

We’ve dined at Uncle Yu’s too many times to count. The food is always excellent but this time the chef exceeded expectations. The best Dim Sum around and the barbecued sea bass is not to be missed! We were celebrating our anniversary so it was really special.

We were happy to be seated inside when cool weather made our outdoor reservation less desirable. Service was good with just a bit of a delay between cocktails being delivered and placing our order. Dim sum came quickly however and was quite delicious. Our main orders of shrimp with honey glazed walnuts and the Lotus Chicken were equally delicious. For older adults (me), it is a touch too noisy inside for intimate conversation but this was a full house and some evenings may be more subdued. Outside dining here is very nice on a warm evening. With a couple of glasses of modest wine, we spent $163 with tax and tip. A little pricey but an enjoyable experience.

One entree was very late arriving to the table, obviously they forgot which waiter admitted to. I had a glass of wine, glass was less than half full (a usual 6-8 ounce glass) but was charged $25.50 for a “full glass”. I questioned the waiter and he said yes that was considered a full glass. Food was good as usual, but didn’t get to eat everything at the same time as the entree arrived late.
