I have drunk there on many occasions and the beer is usually good with always some quirky options. The young bar staff are polite and efficient and the decor is comfortable and interesting. The average review relates to the food offering. The menu is small, which I like, but that usually means that the limited offerings are of good quality. My friend and I both went for the scouse , a safe option in the heart of the city centre on a cold wet winter tea time. What a disappointment! It was basically a bowl of mince with very little root vegetables. Now come on guys you don’t make scouse with mince. It was a bit watery but tasted ok but was very unsatisfactory. If you are going to serve scouse in Liverpool city centre get it right please. This won’t stop me visiting this very pleasant establishment but I will probably eat elsewhere in future
Quirky traditional pub, good atmosphere. Had lunch very slow service, restricted menu choice both our ciabattas were very dry… disappointed with quality of Food.
Pub and bar hopping around this part of the city we decided to drop into Doctor Duncan's Pub and what another great visit we had. I love the look of this pub, its multi roomed ,a cool looking serving bar dominates the main room, dark wood features abound throughout this pub as do amazing looking tiled features, there's real log burning fires and big screens to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a classic British pub indeed. We were here on a freezing cold December afternoon but pub was warm as was the welcome from the staff, we had a study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Titanic Brewery raspberry pale ale ,these were served in excellent condition, we grabbed a table by the fire were we chilled out, warmed up and planned out the day ahead while sipping our pale ale's. My pale ale was exceptional, you could really taste the raspberry essence, very unique, very tasty, a totally refreshing pale ale indeed, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world . We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Doctor Duncan's Pub we had a great time. Doctors Duncan's Pub is easy to locate along St John's Lane. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
There's an excellent pub on St John's Lane that's called Doctor Duncan's that offers a superb food and drinks menu and is one of the most ornate pub's in the city centre. An excellent pub housed in a brilliant building dating from 1901 that looks stunning. The interior design is unbelievable with lots of interesting fixtures and features and lots of good seating area's throughout the pub interior. There is a fantastic tiled room thats simply amazing and when we were here we sat in this splendid room. On our visit we had a few real ales from the Titanic brewery which where excellent and really well priced. This is a superb pub thats in a brilliant area and is well worth going to and is easy to find from Queen Square bus stop it's a short walk away.(This is my fourth review of Doctor Duncan's Pub). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-12.00-22.30. Hours May Differ From Above. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Queen Square Bus Station.
This us a great, traditional pub. Nice music, sports and good beer. Served by Reese.. spot on barman!
