While the service was quite commendable, the food left much to be desired. The BBQ jerk chicken, which is claimed to be spicy, was completely flavorless. Instead of the expected heat, it was overwhelmingly sweet, which was not to my preference. This was genuinely disappointing! It’s frustrating when a restaurant features a dish on its menu but fails to execute it properly. The BBQ jerk chicken didn’t deliver any robust flavors, and the excessive sweetness was off-putting. In my view, Las Iguanas should reconsider offering a dish they cannot prepare well. Although the service was excellent, the quality of the food was a significant letdown. It’s unfortunate, as the restaurant boasts a lovely ambiance and atmosphere. However, when it comes to the food, it simply doesn’t live up to expectations. All in all, if you're hoping for a good meal, Las Iguanas in Liverpool One may not be the best choice. The BBQ jerk chicken was lacking in flavor and overly sweet, and it’s disappointing that a restaurant would present a dish they can't execute effectively. I would suggest looking elsewhere for a more satisfying dining experience.
The cocktails and staff are excellent. However, the food leaves something to be desired. They could use more space for patrons who are only looking to visit the bar. I would recommend this place for a relaxed meal and drinks.
This is my favorite tapas restaurant in Liverpool. The place offers fantastic value, excellent service, and a wonderful selection of cocktails and drinks. They have a wide variety of Latin American tapas dishes, along with main courses for those with larger appetites. At selected times, you can enjoy five tapas dishes for just £20, which is usually enough for two if you add garlic bread or nachos on the side. The food always arrives quickly, is beautifully presented, and tastes amazing. I highly recommend the salmon, prawn, and orange salad, as well as the meatballs, mussels, lamb parcels, and nachos—each one is delicious! They also have an impressive post-dinner liqueur coffee selection and a range of aged sugar cane rums that are absolutely delightful. I've dined here five times now, and I've been satisfied every single time!
Starting in a quiet Bristol street, Las Iguanas has taken off and now there are 22 restaurants in the UK. Specialising in freshly cooked latino food, this is one restaurant that stands out from the mediocre Mediterranean style. OMG the menu is ridiculous there is just too much to choose from! I went for tapas as I thought it would be quite small and manageable, but I was deceived, and then left with the choice of whether to leave it and deal with dessert or not. In the end, I had to finish as much as I could without exploding and then wait a while for the digestive juices to kick in. And then look at the desserts. Tapas is 3 dishes for £12.60, which is practically the alternative to a main meal, although there is a great early bird menu which is cheap as chips. For dessert I had the mango and passionfruit cheesecake, which I managed to cram into my already groaning belly. I just had to remind myself to do up my pants before I stood up, although I would have suffered the embarrassment because the food was so delicious! The service is good too the staff are pleasant and friendly and you can just go in and sit at the bar if you want, which is sometimes fun as all the glass fronted restaurants on this side of Liverpool One give you a great opportunity to people watch. The drinks menu is quite impressive too, and they even cater for kids, so whether you're a wino with an appetite or a 6 year old pest, you'll be looked after. All I need now is someone to accompany me so I can start working my way through that menu.....
If you like to feast on Latin American cuisine, Las Iguanas offers a generous menu from lunch time onwards. On my first visit to this glitzy looking restaurant, I was attracted to their lunch deal as sign posted outside which was apparently £6.90 for a starter, main and drink but when I got my bill, it ended up £8.90 with the extra £2 going towards my drink and starter; it was quite misleading and not obvious. However, I do applaud the food which was of great quality. The starter consisting of a spicy chicken filled enchilada was minimal but the main course of spiced 1/2 pound burger, salad and fries was enough to fill my stomach so I did not have room for desserts (maybe next time when I shall prepare to build up more hunger)! I was pleased with the service and timing when I received my dishes; the food was served hot and tasted fresh. Las Iguanas is a little expensive. If you're looking for a bit of South American treat though, Las Iguanas is a decent choice.
