Very friendly staff.... sometimes lines are very long but still very great service. Good choices of foods too.
I had had a long day and felt like treating myself to an ice cream sundae. I decided I wanted a DQ sundae, so that 's where I went. When I pulled up to the drive thru I read their menu board and saw they offered funnel cakes! I was excited because I had only ever had funnel cakes at East Side Mario 's in Ontario, and that was many years ago. I decided to order the funnel cakes, AND an ice0cream sundae (to satisfy my sundae craving . I told the person my order and they repeated it back to me. One large hot fudge sundae and a strawberry funnel cake. Perfect. Pulled up to the payment window and paid. Drove up to the next window and waited for my turn to get my food. After what felt like a long wait for the truck ahead of me to move on, it was my turn at the window. They started to hand me a sundae and the lady said, One medium hot fudge sundae... I had to correct her, and informed her I had ordered a large sundae. She hesitated then apologised then topped up the sundae to make it a large, and gave it to me. I then sat and waited for the funnel cake. And I waited. And waited. There seemed to be chaos in the building with lots of staff running around. A young guy I hadn 't had any interactions with saw me waiting, came to the window, grabbed a brown paper bag from beside the window, and handed it to me and wished me a nice day. I drove home, clueless that what was in the bag was NOT my funnel cake. Entered my kitchen, placed the paper bag on the counter, and started to tuck in to the sundae before it melted much further. It tasted good. And then I opened the bag. And was horrified to find a burger inside! Nothing, no funnel cake, just a burger. Yuck. That is NOT what I had ordered! I called the restaurant and spoke to a lovely young man whose name I think is LJ. After explaining it to him a couple of times, that I had ordered a funnel cake but got home to find a burger in the bag, he apologised and went to talk to his manager. I was aghast to hear her talking in the background saying I hadn 't paid for it, etc etc etc, and that they can 't give me something I hadn 't paid for. So he came back on the phone and said I hadn 't paid for a funnel cake so I couldn 't have a funnel cake. What?! I was pretty sure I paid around $11. If that was the price of just one large soft serve sundae and nothing else, that 's crazy extortionate. I quickly loaded up my banking app and checked, and yup, $11 on the dot was what I paid. I asked him if that is what a sundae costs. I said I ordered a sundae and a funnel cake and was charged $11 and only received a sundae and some burger that I hadn 't ordered and didn 't want. Again he went to talk to his manager. And again I heard her in the background, disputing my claim. He came back to the phone and this time I was getting quite irate. How hard is it to fix an order?! LJ appeased me in the end though and took my name and number and said if I come back and tell them my name and number they will give me a funnel cake free of charge. Great. I didn 't fancy trekking out again that same evening, as DQ is the opposite end of town to where I live. So I waited and ventured out the next day for a sort of mid morning snack. Pulled up to the drive thru ordering window and announced I was there for a funnel cake that I was owed. She told me to drive straight through to the pick up window, so I did. LJ came to the window and checked I was who I said I was, and said he would be right back with my funnel cake. He was very friendly and polite and apologised for the incorrect order, even though I 'm sure he had nothing to do with it. But while he was gone, apparently getting my funnel cake, a lady who I think was the manager came to the window. And the interrogation started. She had a book which I presume lists the orders or events of the day. And she started to ask me all sorts of questions as to what I ordered. She kept saying the order was for a medium sundae and a burger, and she was confused as to why I was now asking for a funnel cake. I kept having to repeat myself that I ordered a large sundae and a funnel cake, and that I didn 't want a burger, but that 's what they gave me. Then she started saying I had only paid for the sundae. So I asked her how much a large sundae costs, because I would be very surprised if it costed $11 as that seems a bit much for 'fake ' ice cream. She asked how much I paid, and I said $11 exactly, and that it was on my bank statement. She said there were no orders for that amount. Well I didn 't want to go showing her my bank statements, so I just kept standing my ground. She continued to interrogate me like I was trying to steal the Crown Jewels or something. I 'm a retired RCMP officer and I like to think I have some morals about me and wouldn 't go stealing $5 or whatever the funnel cake costs, from Dairy Queen. She seemed so hesitant to trust or believe me. No, the customer is always right or keep the customer happy mentality. Eventually she accepted my story enough to let me have my funnel cake. I hoped it would be worth all this effort. They gave it to me and I was glad to see it in such a big container a good portion size given the cost. I drove home and tucked in to it, and it was DELICIOUS. I had been so irritated and annoyed by that manager 's attitude that I was thinking I never want to go back to Dairy Queen, but having tasted that funnel cake (which actually rivaled that of my memories of East Side Mario 's! I think I will go back. Just next time I 'll take the time to check the contents of the bag before I drive off, even if it means making the trucks behind me wait a few seconds longer. I don 't want to ever go through that ordeal again. Well done to LJ, who did an awesome job in trying to rectify the situation. The manager (I wish I got her name could learn a lot from him. I 'll never forget the way she looked at me with such distrust and skepticism, over a $5 funnel cake.
You can’t beat their pumpkin pie blizzard! It tastes so much like pumpkin pie and so full of flavour. It’s very hard to say no to the pecan mudslide even though I don’t believe it’s on the menu. Yay for DQ!!!
Dairy Queen has the best onion rings. A W used to have the best but changed to the strange ones they serve now. I really like the Ultimate Burger. I don't recommend ordering coffee here. It is not fresh and both times I've ordered coffee it was cold.
