Old Captiva House

We had a wonderful dinner with a view out the window of the gulf! The atmosphere was southern hospitality with all focus on island history. The service was attentive. Our meals really stood out. The lobster corn chowder was a taste sensation! The grouper topped with crab with risotto was spectacular. The filet was cooked to perfection. The bouillabaisse was memorable. Everyone in our party had a meal on the island that we'll remember! Thank you to Richard, our waiter, for his professionalism and kindness.

Compared to our previous dining experience in the past, the food quality has severely deteriorated. Perhaps the kitchen was overwheled due to a wedding. Hopefully will have a better experience next time.

The food was excellent and so was Robin, our server. Unfortunately these positives could not overcome the fact that the a/c in the room we were put in was non-existent, making for a sweaty experience. Later I saw many open tables in the other fully air conditioned room of the restaurant. I can't understand why we were seated in such an uncomfortable room. As a result, I will never return to this restaurant.

Main entree took forever but at least the manager came over to let us know the chef was apologetic. It was not a busy night . Although we enjoyed our evening we enjoy and expect well timed service. Food was excellent.

This place is racist, they asked me and my wife to sit outside and did not attend us. I hear about this a lot but to experience it was really uncomfortable, specifically from the hostess, who literally sighed as I entered the restaurant and kept asking if we were leaving when we would go to the restroom which is at the front of the restaurant, as if she wanted us to leave. I had to say something because in 2024 it is really unfortunate that this is still happening.
