Sushi is our favorite cuisine, and this place certainly lived up to our expectations. My fiancée ordered a nigiri platter while I enjoyed a couple of specialty rolls, and everything was top-notch—service, presentation, and flavor were all excellent. I just wish we lived closer because we would definitely make this a regular spot!
1. I found a long blonde hair in my ginger. 2. The service was disappointing; we waited a long time for our waitress to refill our drinks. 3. The temperature inside was uncomfortably cold, causing our food to become cold quickly. 4. There was a complete lack of atmosphere in the dining area; it felt like we were seated at an afterthought table, and several other tables had the same vibe. I later brought a friend from LA, and once again, I ordered the Sesame Bento Box. This time, I found a six-inch blonde hair in my grapes! I really enjoy your food, but it might be a good idea to have your staff wear hairnets while preparing meals. The sight of hair in my food was quite off-putting, and it made my stomach turn.
The food here is fantastic! The sesame chicken was incredibly tasty! However, the service and atmosphere leave a bit to be desired. The lunch bento box is somewhat pricey, but the flavors make it worth it. Definitely come for the food; just don't expect much else.
I have been wanting to eat here for years now... I'm so happy we were able to spend our date night here last night. The atmosphere was great and service was good and the food was awesome. I think I can say it is the best sushi I've ever eaten!! ?
I put 4 stars but its more like 3 1/2. I 'll explain. The first time we tried M we sat next to the sushi chefs on the left hand side when you walk in. It was an amazing experience. Seriously, 5 stars. Everything was amazing. Over the years i feel as though the hype may have made them a little complacent? Honestly, i 'm not sure why it isnt as good as it was a couple of years ago but that 's my best guess. While the fish tastes fresh most of their dishes are pretty tasty, (heaven on earth, specialty menu, appetizers) there are a few things that have made me raise an eyebrow or 2. I don 't know if they consistently have problems w/ their AC, but theres been several times when my family i have shown up they have one of those giant shop fans blowing instead of having the AC on. During these occasions i have noticed that the sushi/nigiri isn 't that perfect temperature you would expect from a really good sushi restaurant, which can make a big difference in texture taste. Ive also noticed that unless you specifically ask, or you 're enjoying the omakase, at least in my experience, the sushi rice isn 't brushed with any soy sauce or nikiri shoyu, i also found that typically there was no wasabi or kazami placed on the nigiri so it was pretty flavorless aside from the flavor of the fish. They have some of the highest menu prices in this area for sushi, which is ok if its always on point but it isn 't. Some of the prices make sense, others seem a little on the higher end. The service has always been 10/10 so no complaints there. I really don 't like writing reviews like this but these are things i would want to know. M is definitely one of the better sushi places I 've been to, but they 're slackin a little. I haven 't been to Komachi Sushi in a while, but they 're also located in Lodi I 've never been disappointed. next time I 'm craving sushi in the area, I 'll probably just go there. I really hope M Sushi starts putting out food the way they used to!
