This cafe that has opened up in the suburbs is a good favourite of mine when I'm craving matcha things.
Started seeing Sonder popping up in various social media feeds so decided to check it out. I wasn't disappointed :) Service was most pleasant, very
This cafe behind Pinelands Shopping Centre is raising the standard of Asian themed desserts in Brisbane. It has a nice selection of individual cakes in the counter, as well as an extensive dessert selection and ice cream. I had the rose and lychee cheesecake. It was pretty good, beautiful finish, nice flavour, great texture, the base was a bit tough but not of major concern. The other cakes on show were of a very high standard visually. My brother had the salted caramel ice cream which he thought was okay. I'll take his word for it, though he's had better versions of salted caramel. Coffee was good. The Chai latte only comes in one size and is way too large. The cafe space is nicely fit out, they've made the most of their smaller space without overcrowding. Overall it was a pleasant experience at Sonder, there's nothing better in the Sunnybank or Mt Gravatt area in the Asian themed dessert space. 7.5/10
Reuniting with a friend - we decided to head over to Sonders for some drinks after devouring into a steak meal at Pinelands. The establishment is furnished with comfort-to-the-eyes hues, giving out a warm and cosy vibe. Taking a gander at their menu, the business mainly focuses on Japanese green tea desserts. However, if you aren't so much of a green tea person, they offer gourmet ice cream (selection of flavours) and espressos as well. Every time I drive past this place, it is (as if guaranteed) filled with diners. They are either queuing up to order or already digging into their desserts. Arriving here around 8:30-9pm, the dessert parlour was already on the verge of becoming a full house. My friend and I jumped in line to have our orders taken down. We decided on a Matcha Latte and a Sesame Latte. The Sesame Latte arrived first, presented with a lovely grey shaded latte art. My friend was happy for me to give the beverage a try first, so I took my sip. In my opinion, it wasn't very hot and the sesame flavour was quite weak for my palate (perhaps I needed to stir it). On the other hand, my mate said it was okay for him. Not long after, my Matcha Latte arrived and again served with a beautiful defined leaf latte art. The beverage was served warm and the taste of the matcha was very subtle. I would have preferred it to be a bit stronger and hotter. Staff were friendly :) Good Stuff: Their gourmet ice creams are worth a try, especially the sesame and matcha flavours (some of the popular choices). Be sure to visit at an earlier hour as it does get really busy. Parking can be tough but if you don't mind the short walk, Pinelands carpark is available behind the complex.
