Superb view of Isola di Tavolara from the terrace that kept changing in different light. It’s not just that the island that turned pink in the sunset, the water looked white rather that its “ordinary” azure blue. With a bit of adventure and perseverance, we found the route to the beach behind the property, eventually coming to a long wooden bridge alongside a colony of flamingos and herons. Once at the white sandy beach, we waded out at least 30 – 40 meters and were still only chest deep. We walked back by road, which was quick and easy. Our room was spacious and well thought out. The lighting was great! Multiple lamps with high powered bulbs meant we could have it as bright (or not) as we liked. There was a good sized fridge in the room and a table. There were sharp knives, which were handy for making picnics. There were spare plug sockets to charge devices without unplugging anything else. Outside, there was a drying rack for wet swimsuits etc. In other words, our hosts were considerate of what it’s like to be a tourist, and when we had a somewhat unusual request, they were extremely helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, with that unforgettable view from the terrace and a selection of all sorts of things, including proper moka pot coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade jam biscuits. We had hoped to eat in the restaurant but unfortunately, we were out of season. We were able to walk to the village and find something from a couple of alternatives we had researched beforehand, but I would recommend you bring a torch with you. The walk was ok, but right up against the guard rails at times, so you need to be able to alert cars to your presence if it’s dark.
This is not just a restaurant but an agriturismo where you can stay. We had a great stay overall and had dinner only once out of several nights here and that was quite good. Overall, the owners are very nice, the rooms is comfortable, and the view from the terrace is incredible. Also the surrounding countryside seem to be actual working farms so a great experience. Highly recommend staying and eating here.
