We arrived unexpectedly early and lovely staff seated us straightaway. Delicious tea with little rolls and fresh sandwiches, 2 fresh scones each with jam and cream and deli cakes. Very good value compared with the local hotels and no one hurried us. Pleasant cafe atmosphere a short stroll from V&A. Would highly recommend
Came for Afternoon tea delicious food and attentive service. Lovely interior to the restaurant! We spent a long time their and were not rushed out as Im sure we would have been in other places.
Service was awful. Booked afternoon tea for my mum for mother’s day and called in to order specifically vegetarian sandwiches as my mum was a vegetarian. And upon arrival told the waiters the same. After this they still managed to mess up the order and bring us chicken sandwiches which my mum took a bite off. After asking one of the stuff members (gentleman Dressed in a formal attire in blue) rather than apologising for the matter he said ‘well what do you want me to do’. They then took the sandwiches away and brought us vergetatirian sandwiches which are all cream cheese and cumcumbers on stale bread. There was no selection of sandwiches and looked like they made out order in a rush. We had also booked tea for 6. And they only brought the tea for 4. After speaking to 3 different staff members none of them managed to bring us the last order and our drinks were cold by that time and the 4 had already gone through their food. After a last attempt, of requesting our last afternoon tea, the guy said no you only have 4 on your voucher even though he already scanned it. I showed him the vouchers again and he said I thought it was 4. Again didn’t get an apology from him, rather he turned around and said I’ll bring the last one out for you. Which took another 15 mins or so. Mother’s Day treat was not good at all and my mums first experience of an afternoon tea was awful. Food was also not great. Have tasted better scones else where. Do not recommend this place
No problems with delays experienced by other reviewers, once order taken service was perfunctory but just adequate. Nice setting with almost restrained feel of luxury. Now for the issues. Advance booked with prior notification of two allergies for one guest, wheat and dairy, not uncommon. When asked for the allergy free afternoon tea alternatives, the only options offered were macaroons and pasta! Considering the cost of the afternoon tea, pitched at near the Knightsbridge high-end outlets, that the only tea alternatives were Breakfast or Earl Grey teas was very disappointing. Compounded by the teabag tea being supplied in individual small one and half cup pots, we even had to remind the staff that milk was missing! A further pot of tea was charged. Come on, charging extra for a teabag and some hot water is just taking the mickey considering the price of the set tea. The tiers of sandwiches, scones and cakes were adequate. Pity we had to point out that tea for two twice plus a tea for one made up five teas altogether to the staff. Perhaps it is our good fortune that Café Concerto take such good care of their guests health that the portions are minuscule, particularly the clotted cream! Fortunately the good camaraderie of the party overcome these irritants so despite them we had a enjoyable, but not to be repeated, experience. We wish you luck.
